Original Loose Papers (two) Containing Memorial to Bertha Johanna Kramp on Occasion of her Christening in Beckel, Hinterpommern, 2 May 1875.

The first paper, presented below, contains a prayer and mentions the name of Bertha's Godfather, Albert KERBITZ. A second paper, also presented below, is identical to the first except that it mentions the name of Bertha's Godmother, Johanna Tetzlaff (?)  The ink in last portion of surname was smudged, however, we believe this is the probable interpretation.  I wish to acknowledge the assistance of Mr Rudolf Kerbitz of Wesel, Germany, in the translation of this ancient German dialect, known as Sütterlin. Actually, the Latin letters were translated to German before being translated to English. Mr Kerbitz found my web site while searching his own surname on the Internet. The Internet DOES have potential for genealogical discovery. I hope that one day we can find the history of Bertha's Godfather- Albert Kerbitz!  Please contact Mr Rudolf Kerbitz if you are also researching this unique surname. Apparently several members of the Kerbitz family immigrated to America in the nineteenth century.
