Dear Mrs. Matthews,

Your letter of February 2, 1976 received and was pleased to hear from you. I would like to have the information on Milton Rubottom and his family, information in the "Newlin" book. The information I have on Milton Rubottom is as follows: He was the son of Thomas Rubottom and Edith (Dixon) Rubottom, born in Indiana in 1828. He married Rhode Newlin, daughter of Joshua and Aera Newlin, she was born in Parke county, Indiana in 1839. Their children were: Alfred, Lucinda, Louisa, William C., and William C.

Ben F. Dixon and his wife Alice are dead. So as so often happens, we are too late to get information from that source. I believe his, "some notes on the Quaker Dixons of Chatham County, NC is about all we can get from that source. At least I ahve not been able to find any additional material.

I am mailing you a copy of a letter I received yesterday from Mr. Charles W. Morrison of Georgetown, Illinois. The letter was of great interest to me as it gave information on the two marriages of Joseph Rubottom, oldest son of Simon and Elizabeth (Dunn) Rubottom. Joseph's first wife was Hannah Cox, his second wife was Elizabeth Westfall. The census of Lawrence county, Indiana lists Hannah Rubottom as living with the Oliver Cox family. Up until now I had thought she probably was a sister to Simon Rubottom.

I have written to the Library of Guildford College and told them I was interested in having the papers of Harvey Newlin reviewed for information on the Rubottom family. I have not heard from them to date. I wrote to Prof. Algie I. Newlin at Guilford College last year. He was unable to give me any information on the Rubottom family or the Napton Meeting or the Napton Cemetery. He is a Historian and wrote the bookley on the battle of Lindley's Mill, of which I have a copy.

Spring is beginning to show here, the robins, of which there are thousands, have passed through. So there is lots of yard work and garden work being done here. We had a rather mild winter, one night with a temperature of 25 degrees.

Possibly with information from Guildford College and from any source you may find we will come up with all the answers. Any way I hope we have a lot of luck.

Respectfully yours,

T. W. Rubottom
