Dear Mrs. Matthews,

The Piedmont Journal Banner, weekly newpaper published in Piedmont, Missouri publishes articles written by different people about Wayne County, Missouri. The county was settled by many people from Chatham County, North Carolina. I am mailing you one of the articles on the Bilberry family from Chatham County. I thought it would be interesting to you and might be of help to you in some of your genealogical work.

I am still trying to piece together a history of the Rubottom family in America. Information gets harder to come by as time passes. It is difficult to obtain information on late generations.

I believe I must owe you for your troubles and owrk on trying to obtain information on Napton Meeting and the Cemetery. I would appreciate any information you may obtain on the Rubottom family in Chatham or Moore Counties. The family of Thomas Rubottom who lived in Chatham and Moore Counties is the family I am really intereted in obtaining information.

I am going to try to obtain information through the Dowd family. Since Samuel Dowd was a administrator of estates as was his son Thomas Dowd, I thought some of the family mnight have the history we are searching for. Samuel Dowd and Hannah (Rubottom) Dowd were the parents of eleven children. All born in Chatham County. The children were: Thomas S., Silas, Horace Q., Margret A., Rosana, Eliza, Jane D., Sarah P., Mariah, Sophia, and Ruth.

The daughters married as follows: Josiah Fox, Aaron Emerson, William Patterson, Allen Jones, David Bennett, Charles S. Foshee, William Edwards, and William C. Wrenn.

I think it is possible some of the decendants of the above named people may have some information on past generations. Any was it is worth a try.

With Kindest Regards,

T. W. Rubottom
Houston, TX
