Rubottom Deeds Deed: Richard Gregory to Simon Rubottom

This Indenture made this Seventeenth Day of January one thousand eight hundred and one Between Richard Gregory of the County of Chatham and State of North Carolina of the one part and Simon Rubottom of the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the Said Richard Gregory for & in consideration of fifteen pounds current money of the State aforesaid to him in hand paid by the Said Simon Rubottom ___ receipt whereof the said Richard Gregory doth hereby acknowledge hath given granted bargained & Sold and by these presents doth give grant bargain & sell and confirm unto him the Said Simon Rubottom one certain Tract or parcel of Land containing Seventy acres lying being & situate on the Waters of Tick Creek in the County & State aforesaid Beginning at a Hickory his own corner running south two hundred and ten poles to a red oak thence East fifty four poles to a Stake in Balaam Thomson's line thence North two hundred & ten poles to a post oak Balaam Thomson's corner thence west fifty four poles to the place of Beginning it being a Tract of Land granted to the Said Richard Gregory under the hand of Samuel Ashe Esquire Governor andthe great Seal of the State of North Carolina bearing date the fifteenth day of August in the twenty third year of American Independence and in the year of Our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and ninety eight with all of singular privileges and appurtenances to him the Said Simon Rubottom his heirs and assigns forever to have and to hold the same with every part & parcel thereof to use occupy possess and enjoy the same to him the Said Simon Rubottom his heirs & assigns forever against him the Said Richard Gregory his heirs or assigns Executors administrators or against the demand of any person or persons claiming the Same under him or any of them. In Witness whereof the Said Richard Gregory hath hereunto Set his hand and affixed his Seal the day & year first above written
