Mary married Joseph SISSON Jr., son of Joseph SISSON and Bathsheba COOK, on 19 Aug 1762 in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Joseph was born 19 Apr 1739 in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. He died Apr 1787 in Middletown, Rhode Island.

Joseph was a tenant farmer in Portsmouth and Middletown, Rhode Island. He probably died in Middletown, Rhode Island. This Joseph Sisson has been wrongly confused with the Joseph 5 Sisson who married Ruth Shrieve, and whose line is Richard, John, John Jr., John III, Joseph.

Jabez died before Nov 10, 1800 when his brother Barnabas administered the estate of "Jabez, late of Portsmouth, mariner, deceased." Jabez was insolvent, owing Sylvester Brownell $60, Ezbon Barker $30.42, and Mary Sisson $22.75.

Nina Rose's genealogy cirle has his date of birth as August 4, 1750. Other records show 14 Sep 1753. The Vital Records of Norwich, CT shows two sons named Kingsberry, one born and died in Dec. 1751, and the second born 14 Sept 1753.

Kingsbury married Lavinia EDGERTON on 26 Jul 1789. Lavinia was born 26 Jul 1754.

242. Peleg SISSON (George , Richard , George , Richard ) was born 31 May 1726 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., Rhode Island. He died 2 Oct 1802 in Pittstown, Rensselaer Co., New York.

Norman Wobesky reports that "The only marriage listed for Peleg Sisson is: Peleg, of George and Elizabeth, and Ruth Shearman, of John and Grizzell, married by William Sanford, Justice, 7 Dec 1749 [Page 46; Portsmouth Book 2:9]." Thank you, Norm. David and Joan Sisson's "Descendants of Richard and Mary Sisson" (1999) agree with that marriage, and report that "the family moved to Westerly, RI, and then to Pittstown, New York. Peleg and Ruth had two children, probably born in Portsmouth, although son Robert was not recorded until they lived in Pittstown. A third son, Peleg, Jr., has also been reported. Peleg was admitted as a freeman by the RI General Assembly in May 1759. The RI census of 1774 shows in the household two males over 16, one male under 16, two females over 16 (one a daughter-in-law?) and one female under 16 (granddaughter?). [Their son] Richard applied for letters of administration of his father's estate December 13, 1802 in Dartmouth, Book 8, page 161. Peleg married Ruth SHERMAN, daughter of John SHERMAN and Grizzelle FISH, on 7 Dec 1749. Ruth was born 9 Jan 1727 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., Rhode Island. She died 5 Sep 1822 in Pittstown, Rensselaer Co., New York.

According to Norman Wobesky (probably the latter address is correct), quoting Directory of Shermans, v 4, p 2190, Peleg Sisson married ONLY Ruth Sherman b 1726, daughter of John and Grizzelle (Fish) Sherman, on 7 Dec 1749.

Robert Sisson probably moved to Pittstown, New York, after 1774. In the 1790 census his household contained one male over 16, one male under 16, and five females. Robert left Pittstown before 1800.
