4664. Bertha Opal SISSON (James Samuel , Daniel , Nathaniel , William , Jonathan , James , Richard ) was born 30 May 1889 in Felix Twp, Grundy Co., Iowa. She died 28 Jan 1951 in Kiester, Faribault Co., Minnesota and was buried in Kiester, Faribault Co., Minnesota.

The copy of a Family Record page from what appears to be a bible contains the following entry under date of marriage:  February 7 1912 at home (illegible) Register February, 2.  There is also another illegible word in the margin but it appears to be after Jan 28th which is the date of death. In the account of the wedding of her brother Charlie Sisson, on February 16, 1914 there is mention of Mr. and Mrs. Theo Kruger having been living on his farm and apparently planning to move to Minnesota the first of March (1914). Bertha and her husband homesteaded in Wyoming, but according their daughter, Mildred Kruger, Theo checked out the the homestead and saw that people were not able to make a decent living, due to crop failures, etc., so they did not move there.  They stayed in Iowa and lived on the farm owned by Charlie.  After they left Charlie's farm they rented two different farms in Minnesota.  Then they bought one 3 miles southwest of Kiester, Minnesota, in 1925.  That farm is now owned by Ray Kruger. According to Mildred Kruger Grady, Bertha died of a blood clot.  "It happened in the morning, a blood clot caused her great pain as she sat up in bed-ready to get up & dress.  The pain caused her to quickly lie back down which enabled the clot to move to the heart or brain.  The doctor had come, but she died shortly thereafter."  Following is an account of Bertha's death from the Conrad paper: Minnesota Service Held for Former Conrad Resident
Conrad - (Special) - Services for Mrs. Theo Kruger, former Conrad resident, were held recently at the Evangelical United Brethren church in Kiester, Minn., with burial at Fairview cemetery there. Mrs. Kruger died of a heart attack at her home west of Kiester, where she lived since 1914.  Daughter of James and Elmina Sisson, she was born at Conrad May 30, 1889, and was married there in 1912.
Surviving are the widower and six children, Mrs Howard M. Grady, Yakima, Wash.; Mrs Willard Jensen, Kiester; Mrs. Paul Mueller and Donald Kruger, West Concord, Minn.; Raymond and Clayton at home.  One daughter, Mrs. Wilfred Opp, died in 1949.  Also surviving are one brother, Charles Sisson, New Providence and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Rorer, Minneapolis and Mrs. Charles Durand, St. Peter, Minn.

Bertha married Theodore J. KRUGER, son of Julius KRUGER and Anna, on 7 Feb 1912 in Conrad, Grundy Co., Iowa. Theodore was born 19 Jun 1881 in Forst, Germany. He died Mar 1963 in Kiester, Faribault Co., Minnesota and was buried in Kiester, Faribault Co., Minnesota.

Both of Theodore's parents died when he was very young.

Served as trustee of Potsdam; food administrator during World War [I]. Thomas S. Clarkson Memorial Coll. of Tech.; pres. Potsdam Hosp Mem. Wing Family of America, Sisson Clan. Chamber of Commerce (ex pres.), Nat Econ League (Boston).
