My Country, Pillar of Freedom

Land of freedom! Land of light!
Give us men who will stand for right!
Men with mind and vision clear,

It's true of a nation as it is of life;

The 1900 census for William R. Risher shows him living with his wife, three daughters and one son, Will's birth in Pennsylvania, May 1864, age 35, married 14 years, mother born in Ireland, occupation retail merchant, able to read, write, and speak English, and owning his own home free of mortgage.
