Freeborn and Henrietta moved in 1832 to Tioga County, New York, where Freeborn was a merchant and was involved in several land transactions. The family is listed in the Salisbury, LaSalle County, Illinois, 1850 census. Freeborn was a soap maker at 603 State Street and lived at 506 State Street in Chicago in 1859-60. He left Chicago in 1860. He died leaving no will and no widow. "The property of said estate consists of personal property only worth about $440, being money due from parties in Rhode Island." Documents name children: Charles T. Sisson, Edward F. Sisson, Jane M. van Dusen, and Oscar P. Sisson. His estate was administered by his son-in-law Sidney van Dusen. Documents also indicate funeral expenses of one coffin $40; one box for same $3; digging grave $1.50; carriage hire $12.50; doctor bill $125; nursing $50; shroud and indidentals $10.
