Alcha Olive Sisson and her husband David Osborn were the parents of 10 children. Besides those whose names are know, there were two children born between Zenus Osborne and Conrad David Osborne, and another child born between John Sisson Osborne and Daniel Osborne. All the children were born in Chester, Meigs County, Ohio. According to descendant Keith D. Ashley, Alcha Olive went by the name of Olive.

Alcha married David OSBORN, son of Josiah OSBORN and Hannah SCOTT, on 16 Jan 1813 in Vevay, Switzerland Co., Indiana. David was born 19 Jun 1790.

1669. Lydia SISSON [scrapbook] (John , John , Giles , Thomas , George , Richard ) was born 9 Aug 1797 in Unadilla, Otsego Co., New York. She died 17 Mar 1863 in Aaron, Switzerland Co., Indiana and was buried in Osborn Cemetery, Pleasant Township, Switzerland Co., IN.

Lydia Sisson and her husband Aaron Osborne moved to Longbottom, Meigs County, Ohio. The first two of their children were born in Ohio, and others in Indiana. Mary Malone took pictures of Aaron's and Lydia's gravestones which give their datea of death as recorded here.

Lidia and Aaron are buried in the Osborn Cemetery, Pleasant Township, Switzerland Co., Indiana, approximately 2 miles west of Fairview, on State Route 250.

Lydia married Aaron OSBORN, son of Josiah OSBORN and Hannah SCOTT, on 10 Jan 1816. Aaron was born 1793 in New York State. He died 30 Oct 1872 in Aaron, Switzerland Co., Indiana and was buried in Osborn Cemetery, Pleasant Township, Switzerland Co., IN.

Aaron, born 1793, and Lydia, born 1796, (Sisson) Osborn were from New York state. This Osborn line can be traced to England when Richard Osborn sailed the Hopewell in 1634 from London. Aaron Osborn was a fifth generation American. Aaron served in the War of 1812 and came to Indiana in 1821 to an area north of what is now State Road 250 in Switzerland County. He took a claim from the government and a deed was signed by President James Monroe in 1821. Aaron and Lydia had ten children -- Daniel, Moses, Aaron, Josiah, Elmer, Phoebe, Hannah, Permelia Jane, and Jolen [a list of children which differs from the one given by David and Joan Sisson's "Sisson Newsletter."] Aaron Osborn was a great supporter of schools and churches. He assisted in building most of the schools for many miles around. He was a strong believer in education and passed on through the generations the quest for education which endures today. He was a very patriotic man and it was said that on the 4th of July each year he shot his shotgun in honor of Independence Day. As each of his grandchildren married he gave them approximately twenty acres of land of which nearly sixty are still in the Osborn-Jackson-Brown family (still in the family, 2002). Aaron, Indiana is on the old Florence-Cross Plains Road, where the Harrison school once stood. The road is now called Aaron Road. His great-grandson Carl H. Brown taught there for many years. There was once a post office called Aaron named for him. He died in Aaron October 30, 1872, at the age of 79. 1670. Daniel Higby SISSON (John , John , Giles , Thomas , George , Richard ) was born 22 Dec 1800 in Unadilla, Otsego Co., New York. He died 30 Sep 1878 in Harveyville, Kansas and was buried in Harveyville Cemetery, Harveyville, KS.

Daniel Higby Sisson's family moved from Otsego County, NY, to Ohio in 1814, and to Switzerland County in 1817, then to Vevay in 1823. He was a farmer and belonged to the Methodist Episcopal Church. Daniel and Malinda moved in 1851 to Keokuk County, Iowa, then in 1876 to Eskridge, Kansas, with their son James Jones Sisson. Both are buried in the Harveyville Cemetery in Wilmington, Kansas. According to the Sisson Newsletter, v 6 #3 p 17, "Indiana records state marriage license issued May 30 (recorded?), to Daniel and Malinda Eves daughter of Henry and Sarah (Campbell) Coombes Eves." Daniel married Sarah Malinda EVES, daughter of Henry EVES and Sarah CAMPBELL, on 12 May 1821 in Vevay, Switzerland Co., Indiana. Sarah was born 8 Sep 1805. She died 24 Nov 1892 in Wilmington, Wabaunsee Co., Kansas and was buried in Harveyville Cemetery, Harveyville, KS.

Malinda lived with her son James and his wife Annie for the last 5 years of her life. Her name was spelled "Melindia" in her Bible.

Malinda was described as being 5 feet tall, with auburn hair.

1671. Zenus L. SISSON (John , John , Giles , Thomas , George , Richard ) was born 29 Jan 1803 in Unadilla, Otsego Co., New York. He died 31 Oct 1881 in Mason, Effingham Co., Illinois.

Zenas (or Zenus) L. Sisson was born either 29 or 30 June 1802 in Unadilla, Otsego County, NY. He was a merchant. In 1816 his family moved to Long Bottom, Meigs County, Ohio, and then in 1826 to Indiana. Zenas married widow Elizabeth (Mapes) Bassett when she was 18. Elizabeth brought at least one child with her when they married. He and Elizabeth had eleven children, all born in Indiana. There may have been three more children: Eleanor, Elizabeth, and Resiah. In 1861 Zenas and his family moved to Mason, Illinois. Joan and David Sisson, editors of the Sisson Newsletter and authors of the book "Descendants of Richard and Mary Sisson," point out that Zenus did not come to Indiana until 1826, yet the date of his marriage to Betsey Chase is given in 1824. Research is needed.

Zenus married (1) Betsey CHASE on 16 Nov 1824 in Vevay, Switzerland Co., Indiana.

Zenus also married (2) Elizabeth MAPES, daughter of James MAPES, about 1826 in Indiana. Elizabeth was born 18 Mar 1807 in New York. She died 1895 in Mason, Effingham Co., Illinois.

1674. John SISSON III (John , John , Giles , Thomas , George , Richard ) was born about 1810 in Unadilla, Otsego Co., New York.

John Sisson III was a cabinetmaker and artist. In 1834 at the age of about 14 he married Delia Young with "Camma R. Young consenting." Delia was about 18 that year. The Sisson Newsletter, v. 4, no. 2, p. 15, indicates "that Delia had two children, Mary born circa 1835, and Sarah born circa 1837. If the marriage date of 1834 is correct, these would be "their" chidren. John and Delia had three [more] children." They lived in "Vavoy" [Vevay?], near Madison, Indiana. They were divorced. Delia remarried and went to Kentucky. John was living with his daughter Eveline (or Emeline) Sisson in Switzerland County, Indiana, in 1860.

John married Delia YOUNG, daughter of Camma R., on 20 Feb 1834. The marriage ended in divorce. Delia was born about 1806.

1675. Mary SISSON "Polly" (John , John , Giles , Thomas , George , Richard ) was born 1811. She died 10 Mar 1869 in Bennington, Switzerland Co., Indiana.

Mary and John lived at Bennington, Indiana.

Polly married John HUMPHREY on 17 Sep 1829 in Vevay, Switzerland Co., Indiana. John was born 1806.

John's name may have been Murphy.

1676. Pamelia SISSON (John , John , Giles , Thomas , George , Richard ) was born about 1814 in Pennsylvania or Indiana. She died 8 Apr 1849 in Columbia, Meigs Co., Ohio and was buried in Temple Cemetery, Meigs Co., Ohio.

Pamelia (or Parmelia) Sisson married her first cousin Elisha Sisson.

Pamelia married Elisha SISSON, son of Simeon SISSON and Susannah POTTER, on 15 Aug 1830 in Vevay, Switzerland Co., Indiana. Elisha was born about 1813 in New York State. He died in Columbia, Meigs Co., Ohio.

Elisha Sisson was a farmer. John Sisson, Parmelia's father, was present at the wedding. Elisha and Pamelia had about 1600 acres in Meigs County, Ohio, according to the 1850 census. The 1860 census for Columbia Township, Meigs County, Ohio, reports an Eliza A. Barnhouse, 18, female, born in Ohio, in Elisha Sisson's household. Henry (or Harry) Sisson was born in Unadilla, New York. He was killed by a falling tree, in Gallipolis, Ohio. He is buried on the Putnam farm.

Henry married Sarah PUTNAM "Sally", daughter of George Washington PUTNAM and Lucinda OLIVER, on 13 Feb 1818 in Gallipolis, Gallia Co., Ohio. Sally was born 27 Jan 1800. She died 20 Oct 1886 in Webster, Breckinridge Co., Kentucky.

1678. Mary SISSON (Giles , John , Giles , Thomas , George , Richard ) was born about 1798 in Unadilla, Otsego Co., New York. She died 1835.

Mary Sisson and her husband Thomas L. Holliday of Galliopolis, Ohio, had twins who died young and a son John.

Mary married Thomas L. HOLLIDAY. Thomas was born about 1798.

1679. Chloe Mariah SISSON (Giles , John , Giles , Thomas , George , Richard ) was born 15 Mar 1803 in Unadilla, Otsego Co., New York. She died 18 Mar 1855.

Chloe is listed in the 1830 census in Salisbury township, Meigs Co., OH, as "Cloe Case".

Chloe married (1) Luther CASE on 10 Aug 1823 in Gallia Co, Ohio. Luther was born about 1800 in Connecticut. He died 16 Aug 1829 and was buried in Pine Street Cemetery, Gallipolis, Gallia Co., Ohio.

Mark Sisson, 83 Olentangy St, Columbus, Ohio 43202, Luther Case was a widower from Connecticut when he married Chloe Mariah Sisson.

The book _Log Cabin Reminiscences_ has the wrong date for Luther's death. The date that it gives is actually the date of death of Luther's son Giles. Luther's death date of 1829 is on his grave marker.

Chloe also married (2) Robert YOUNG about 1831.

In the Meigs Marriages, when Chloe married Phineas Matthews she was listed as Chloe Young.

Chloe also married (3) Phineas MATTHEWS on 5 Aug 1838. Phineas was born Jul 1770 in North Brookfield, MA. He died 2 Apr 1854.

A grave marker for Phineas erected after 1900 lists his three wives.

1680. Martin Solomon SISSON (Giles , John , Giles , Thomas , George , Richard ) was born 14 Jul 1806 in Unadilla, Otsego Co., New York. He died 28 Jul 1852 in Vicksburg, Warren Co., Mississippi.

The Sisson Newsletter, v. 3, no.2, p. 5, says that Martin Solomon Sisson and his wife Maryann Miranda Sisson "had three daughters and two sons; see Martin discussed previously." Martin Solomon Sisson was, according to v. 4, no. 3, p. 2, a river man and lived in Gallia County, Ohio. He and his wife and family lived near the junction of Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio. Mark Sisson, 83 Olentangy St, Columbus, Ohio 43202, says that Martin was a river man, like his brother Nahum, and Martin lived in Vicksburg before the Civil War and died in the South.

Martin married Maryann Miranda SISSON, daughter of Benjamin SISSON and Zaviah PENDLETON, on 31 Dec 1826 in Gallia Co., Ohio. Maryann was born 27 Apr 1809 in New York State. She died 5 Sep 1844.

Maryann Miranda Sisson (her maiden name) and her husband Martin Solomon Sisson lived in Kentucky near Indiana.

1681. George Washington SISSON (Giles , John , Giles , Thomas , George , Richard ) was born 26 May 1808 in Unadilla, Otsego Co., New York. He died 19 Dec 1866 in Brighton.

George Washington Sisson sold, on March 30, 1837, 30 3/4 acres in Hartwick, Otsego County, New York, to Andrew Shute, Jr. On April 7, 1838 he bought five acres in Westford, Otsego County, New York, for $700 from Calvin and Fanny Graves. On September 9, 1839 he sold five acres with water for $1,000 to Peter Platner. On May 13, 1844 he sold 5 3/4 acres in Westford for $520 to A.P. Chamberlain. The family moved from Medina, Ohio, to Wayne County, Ohio, to Washington/Jefferson County, Iowa, and in 1885 to Los Angeles. Most of the family, other than G.W. Sisson, is buried in Rasedale Cemetery, Los Angeles. It is not clear where Brighton is, where G.W. Sisson died. Mark Sisson, 83 Olentangy St, Columbus, Ohio 43202, says that George died in Iowa.

George married Mary Ann HOWE, daughter of Artemus HOWE and Fanny PARKER, on 12 Apr 1838 in Westford, Otsego Co., New York. Mary was born 27 Mar 1814. She died 1899 and was buried in Rosedale Cemetery, Los Angeles, CA.
