Otis was a famer, then a manufacturer of "Sisson's Excelsior Soap." He joinged "the Artillery Co." in 1878. Both he and Ruth are buried in the Rural Cemetery, New Bedford.

Otis married (1) Lorinda HART in Nov 1848 in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Lorinda was born 29 Nov 1828 in New Bedford, Massachusetts. She died 11 Dec 1860 in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Lorinda and Otis had six children, names and histories unknown.

Sailing Master Alexander Sisson received honorable recognition from the War Department of USA for service in the capture of British ships Detroit and Caledonia at Fort Erie in October 1812. Following this, Alexander was wounded in another action which led to his eventual death. The particulars of this action are not clear.

In this village, on the 7th inst., Alexander Sisson, sailing master in the United States Navy, about 30 years of age, of a wound he received on the night of the 27th of November in an attack on the British shore opposite Black Rock. He was a brave, valuable, and meritorious officer.
