2854. Edward S. SISSON (Pardon , John , John , John , John , Richard ) was born 25 Jun 1811 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., Rhode Island. He died 23 Jun 1891 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., Rhode Island.

Edward was a farmer and politician. He was on the town council of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, was a Whig, then a Republican, and a Baptist. In 1852 Edward and Mary purchased 120 acres on "Gypson Lane." The Rhone Island Historic Cemetery Project reports that Edward S. and Mary (Stedman) Sisson are buried in the Island Cemetery, Newport, Rhode Island, probably in the Stedman plot.

Edward married Mary Gardner STEDMAN, daughter of Stephen STEDMAN and Elizabeth MAY, on 2 Nov 1834. Mary was born 3 Nov 1814 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., Rhode Island. She died in Portsmouth, Newport Co., Rhode Island.

Oliver resided in Eryville, NY, in 1868 (from _Hampshire County Deeds_, Hampshire Co. Hall of Records, Northampton, MA).

Oliver married Almeda FRANKLIN on 20 Jun 1837 in Otselic, Chenango Co., New York. Almeda was born 1810. She died 16 Mar 1853 in Tully, Onondaga Co., New York.

Mortimer D. SISSON was born 30 Jul 1841 in Seneca Falls, Seneca Co., New York. He died after 1906 in Seneca Falls, Seneca Co., New York.

Mortimer D. Sisson had no children by his second wife Frances Binney. The Sisson Newsletter, v.3, no.3, does not say whether he had children by his first wife Mary A. Binney, nor what relationship existed between Mary and Frances.

Mortimer also married (2) Frances BINNEY on 22 Sep 1898 in Mansfield, Richland Co., Ohio. Frances was born about 1845.

Fidelia married C. C. GILMAN on 6 Sep 1871. C. C. GILMAN was born about 1747.

Mary O. SISSON was born 11 Aug 1850 in Seneca Falls, Seneca Co., New York. She died 10 Jan 1869 in Seneca Falls, Seneca Co., New York.

2858. Alexander SISSON (Pardon , John , John , John , John , Richard ) was born 14 Nov 1816 in Newport, Newport Co., Rhode Island. He died 27 May 1906 in Hamilton, New York and was buried in Madison Street Cemetery, Hamilton, New York.

Alexander and Pardon Sisson were twins. Alexander "was a New Englander of Quaker descent." He came from Georgetown to Hamilton, New York, about 1870. For several years he was Street Commissioner of Hamilton. At the time of the birth of his son Eugene, Eugene's "parents were living in the old French Chateau [in Hamilton?] which has been the subject of romantic interest since colonial days." His daughter Celia J. Sisson said of it, "The Muller House was large and had a large attic." Alexander was living with Celia on Charles Street, Hamilton, New York, at the time of his death.

Alexander resided in Georgetown, NY, in 1868 (from _Hampshire County Deeds_, Hampshire Co. Hall of Records, Northampton, MA).

Alexander married (1) Abigail ATWOOD, daughter of ATWOOD, on 20 Dec 1842 in Georgetown, Madison Co., New York. Abigail was born 1820. She died 8 May 1849 in Hamilton, Madison Co., New York.

They had the following children:

Celia Jane SISSON was born 9 Nov 1846 in Georgetown, Madison Co., New York. She died 12 Aug 1944.

Celia wrote a lengthy autobiography a photocopy of which will be found in the care of Carol Sisson Regehr, 1001 Colorado Street, Manhattan, KS 66502 , as part of the Sisson Archives.

I was born on Muller Hill, in the mystery house claimed to have been built by Louis Anathe Muller a refugee from the French Revolution.

Alexander also married (2) Abigail BROWN, daughter of Edmond BROWN and Abigail WHITE, about 1850 in Hamilton, Madison Co., New York. Abigail was born about 1831 in Topsham, Orange Co., Vermont. She died 14 Dec 1891 in Hamilton, New York and was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Hamilton, New York.

William B. Sisson is buried on the Sisson farm, on Sisson Pond Road, Portsmouth, Rhode Island, behind the house on the north side, according to Barbara Austin.

William married Charlotte S. SLOCUM, daughter of Giles SLOCUM and Mary GOULD, on 19 Mar 1846. Charlotte was born 1823 in Portsmouth, Newport Co., Rhode Island.
