138. Lemuel D. SISSON (Dannison , William , William , Thomas ) was born 20 Dec 1838 in Talladega Co., Alabama. He died 16 Mar 1912 in Morrilton, AR and was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Morrilton, AR.

Lemuel and his family moved from Alabama to Arkansas in 1869. They settled at Lewisburg in Conway County. Lemuel owned and operated a small merchandise store until the railroad came to Morrilton in the early 1870s. Then the family moved to Morrilton. Lemuel's son Sidney helped in the store until his death in 1904.

Lemuel did not serve during the War Between the States because he was crippled - one leg was shorter than the other. He was, however, imprisoned by the northern Army as a suspected courier, carrying information to the Confederate Army.

The birthdate on Lemuel's tombstone may be incorrect. His birthdate is given as Dec. 7, 1838, in his brother's family Bible.

Lemuel married Mary Adeline COX, daughter of Calvin COX and Clarissa GARRETT, on 22 Jan 1859 in St. Clair Co., Alabama. Mary was born 18 Feb 1842 in Alabama. She died 30 Mar 1930 in Morrilton, AR and was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Morrilton, AR.

In 1929, Mary Sisson's home burned; she went to live with her daughter, Mrs. Nettie Alexander, in Morrilton, AR.

Listed as age 87 (b. 1833) in 1920 census in Coal City, St. Clair Co., Alabama, dist. 150, household 122/125.

His tombstone in Coleman Cemetery, St. Clair Co., Alabama, gives his birthdate as Jan 25, 1839, and spells his name Danel Scisson.

Daniel made a statement to the census tax assessor of Saint Clair Co., Alabama, 1907-1908, that his birthdate was 18 Feb 1840. (Other records have listed 25 Feb 1841.)

Daniel married (1) Mary A. DAFFRON, daughter of Noah DAFFRON and Narcissa Adaline MORGAN, on 5 Jul 1861 in Coal City, St. Clair Co., Alabama. The marriage ended in divorce. Mary was born 11 May 1844 in Alabama. She died 18 Sep 1921 in St. Clair Co., Alabama and was buried in Coleman Cemetery, St. Clair Co., Alabama.
