Her father LEWIS OLIVER came from a pioneer family who settled in Jackson Co.,
Ohio where he was born May 12, 1833. As a young man he came to Illinois where
he married MARGARET VINEYARD Jan 10, 1856. He was a farmer and musician. He served through the Civil War and died at home May 15, 1873 at the age of 40 years.
Sarah Alice Oliver was a wonderful mother, homemaker and neighbor. Relativesand friends near and far sent for her when trouble or ilness came. She seldom failed to respond even though it meant being away from her home for weeks at a time. Her best loved hobbies were making quilts and tending her roses. She was active in the Baptist Church at Omaha although she kept her membership in the Missionary Baptist Church at Union in Hamilton Co.
