He was at Yorktown, Seven Day's, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, and subsequently throughout the War Between the States until he was wounded at Spotsylvania Courthouse, Virginia. He was on the line as a sergeant with the Winder Guards Battalion at Seven Pines, until Richmond was evacuated and burned. Adolphus lived in Benton, Saline County, Arkansas in 1866. He went there to visit his brother, Perry, who lived there, and ended up settling there himself. He served in the military in the Arkansas State Militia on 8 November 1897. On this date he was appointed a major. He a resident of the Confederate Home in 1933 in Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas. Adolphus died about 1935 at the age of 91.
