His body was returned to Maryland by Huyett Truxton, his faithful Negro man-servant. Charles was buried on 3 June 1806 in Grove Road Cemetery, Maryland. He was buried on 29 May 1966 in Wiltshire Manor, Caroline County, Maryland. Following the discovery of his grave where he was buried following his duel, he was reinterred here at the mansion where he was born, and where his family lived for generations.
