His occupation in the 1900 Census is listed as a "shoemaker," however, this is likely an error and should probably have read "sheet maker," as it is known that he worked in the metal industry. He died about 1918 in Hackensack, Bergen County, New Jersey. He was naturalized. He was a naturalized American citizen, possibly naturalized in New York City, who could read, write, and speak English fluently. His granddaughter, Josephine, recalls that he would come to New York state and hunt, frequently with his sons, Theodore and Emil. Conrad and his second wife spent many vacations there.
