She lived in Sterling, Rice County, Kansas between August 1904 and 4 February 1934. In August 1904 William and Esther moved with their family to Sterling, Kansas, in order that their children might have better advantages in school, and to attend the church of their choice. They moved to a farm that eventually included 240 acres and Katherine lived there until her death, except for the five years which they spent in the City of Sterling.
