October 26, 1905 on account of their declining years, they rented their farm and moved farther into the village to live a retired life and enjoy their toil and labor of the younger days. They were the parents of six children, three sons and three daughters. David, the oldest, died in infancy. Sarah, deceased wife of Huron Close of Lemert, Emma, wife of Adam Keller of Lykens, Adam of Lemert and Mary at home, also fifteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren and one brother Francis H. Koonsman of Detroit, Michigan, the only surviving member of a family of twelve children, also a number of friends and acquaintances who are bowed in sorrow. She had chosen her text, John 14:1-2 verses, also her favorite hymn, "Jerusalem My Happy Home." For the past five years her granddaughter, Miss Florence Lambert has cared for her, doing all in her power for the comfort of grandma, daily reading to her from her bible and read the papers to her concerning the topics of the day, all of which she greatly appreciated, as her mind, hearing, and memory was remarkable good until her last moments of life. She did not suffer, but quietly passed away, dropping into the sleep that knows no waking. Services were conducted by her former pastor Rev. Melvin Ayres, formerly of Benton M. E. Church, but now of Green Springs, with prayer by Rev. Clendenned at the church in Lemert with interment in Benton Cemetery beside the silent tomb of her companion. Rest in peach, thy work on earth is done. Relatives in attendance from a distance were her aged brother Francis Koonsman of Detroit, Michigan, son Samuel Lambert of Huntington, Indiana, a grandson Harry Close and wife of Galion.
