Adam Link was born on 14 November 1761 in Hagerstown, Washington County, Maryland. He served in the military during the Revolutionary War in the Continental Army between 1775 and 1783. Adam was a member of the Continental Army, and saw frontier service in Virginia for five years. At one point, he served under Gen. George Washington. He lived in Crawford County, Ohio from 1832 to 1864. Adam died on 15 August 1864 in Sulphur Springs, Crawford County, Ohio. His date of death has also been found as 1865 (no specific date). He was buried after 15 August 1864 in Union Cemetery, Sulphur Springs, Crawford County, Ohio. Toward the end of the American Civil War, there were six veterans of the Revolutionary Army known to be still living, and Adam Link was one of these people. In the early 1860s they were located, interviewed and photographed by Elias Hilliard. The results of this surfaced over eighty years later in an article in Life magazine for May 31, 1948, on page 88.
