When I wrote to my cousin, Barbara Cameron, in Indiana, she said she had found records her Dad (Floyd Marion Markley) kept and he listed his Dad (Jacob William Markley) as having died October 28, 1936. She also noted that Jacob William Markley was a member of the Knights of Phythias #97 and he was a member of the English Lutheran Church. His brother was Stilling and his sister was Ida Burggraf. I remember my siter, Louise, telling me that growing up, she had dearly loved "Pop" as the kids and grandkids called Jacob Markley. He must have loved children as I heard that from my sister, Esther, also, and from my cousin Barbara.

My sister, Carol, told of stopping in a little town in Northern California called Markleyville. It was hardly a town, she said, but there was a little grocery store. She stopped and to her surprise found that inside the door was a story about a Jacob Markley of whom the town was named after. She said that in checking the dates, he wasn't possible that he was the same Jacob Markley. As I learned later, there were a number of Jacob Markleys before but now I no longer have the dates of the Jacob Markley in Markleyville and it is doubtful these Indiana relatives founded a town in California.
