John Flahavan's, Capt. Aaron Ogden's and 9th Company. During the last 15 months of his service he was the Regimental Sergeant Major. His discharge date has also been found as 21 Feb 1781, at which time he was discharged near Morristown, New Jersey. John lived in Redstone Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania after 1781. John is reported to have lived here after the Revolutionary War. Their home is said to have accidently burned in the early 1800's, destroying most of their belongings, including his military service and discharge records, which greatly complicated his later application for a military pension. He was allowed a pension for his Revolutionary War service on 16 August 1818. He died on 7 July 1826 in Warren County, Ohio. His place of death has also been found as Athens, Athens County, Ohio.
