A lot of evidence supports the idea that Jonathan was part of a larger Noble family descended from a William Noble, who came into Somerset County, Maryland in the 1660s from Accomack County, Virginia. William first appears in the vital records of Somerset with the birth of his twins, Jonathan and Hannah, which was recorded in 1686.
