Elenora Rugh was born on 18 July 1841 in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. She was member of the Presbyterian Church about 1857. She is reported to have joined the church at the age of sixteen. She lived in Illinois before 1870. Elenora lived in Missouri before 1872. She lived in Buffalo County, Nebraska after 1872. She died on 8 November 1929 in Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas. She is reported to have "died at the home of her daughter, Elsie Beers," but I have found no daughter named Elsie married to anyone named Beers. Can it be her daughter Elizabeth Elsie Henderson? Elenora was buried after 8 November 1929 in Kearney Cemetery, Kearney, Buffalo County, Nebraska. Parents: Peter Rugh and Catherine Bradley.

Henderson, Elizabeth Elsie (Lizzie) Henderson, Dallas Rugh Henderson, Effie Elenor Henderson.

Spouse: John Henry Snyder. Elenora Rugh and John Henry Snyder were married on 14 February 1879. They moved to Nebraska using a wagon drawn by horses, and it is hard to imagine anyone of today undergoing the hardships found in moving in such a manner. They ferried across the Missouri River close to Omaha, and later forded both the Platte and Wood Rivers. Their first night at their destination, they camped just south of the Wood River. There were two other families with them, the family of Al Thomas of Gibbon was one of them. It was very windy, and when they built a campfire, a small whirlwind set the grass on fire. They lost most of their supplies. "Aunt Rosa" said it took most of Grandma's quilts and other linens to put out the fire. Since Abraham was not an former soldier, he could not take a homestead, so he purchased 80 acres from the railroad. He hauled lumber from Gibbon and built a 16' by 20' house. John D. Wolf remembers, "Mother mentioned during their years, Indians would camp along the Wood River, about one mile south of their house. They would come to the house and beg for food. If nobody was home, the Indians just took the food. She also mentioned the grasshopper plague of the 70's that took everything." Dallas Rugh Henderson remembered the Pawnee & Sioux stealing from each other. They didn't molest the early settlers, mainly taking what was laying around. However, if you were cooking meat, especially pork, they would walk right in and take it from the pan. They called it "hoggie" meat. Dallas had a big dog and he didn't like the Indians, so they had to watch him closely whenever the Indians came around." Children were: Albert Charles Snyder, Rosa Snyder, Anna Snyder.
