Don Foster Seward was born on 11 June 1894. He served in the military in 1917/8. Little is known of his military service, but he is reported to have been a World War I veteran. After 1919 he was a County Registrar of Deeds in Barton County, Kansas. In 1938 Don was an automobile salesman. Parents: William Elbert Seward and Leoni Bertha Compton.

Ebenezer Howbert Seward was born on 22 February 1837 in Coshocton County, Ohio. He was Seventh Day Adventist about 1855. He was a loyal member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church from young manhood on, and was given a ministerial license in 1883. He and his mother were among the first Adventists in Indiana. His father was never much of a church goer. He served in the military during the Civil War in Company H, 153rd Indiana Volunteer Infantry between 1861 and 1865. Ebenezer lived in Rice County, Kansas in 1873. He took a soldier's homestead in Rice County in 1873. After 1873 he was a farmer in Rice County, Kansas. Ebenezer's farm was unlike those of his relatives, in that he specialized in fruit. His walnut grove, too, was second to none. In this home, many "Jayhawkers" had their first taste of fresh berries, pears, and home grown apples. The pioneer tables knew dried fruits, wild plums, tomato marmelade, spiced pumpkin butter, and watermelon preserves. Watermelons and muskmelons sold for five cents apiece. He member of the School Board after 1873 in Rice County, Kansas. Ebenezer lived in Shattuck, Ellis County, Oklahoma in 1908. One source stated, referring to his Civil War service, " . . .in one engagement, the color bearer was shot down and Jacob seized the flag from the dead or dying hands and led a charge. That was the 13th Indiana Regimental flag, and it is now (1938) in the Indiana Statehouse at Indianapolis. Jacob served in the Battle of Cold Harbor. With him at that time were his uncle Melanchthon Howbert, and other relatives, W. L. Smith and Mortimer Stiles." He a charter member of the I. O. O. F. before 1873 in Russiaville, Howard County, Indiana. Jacob lived in Rice County, Kansas in 1873. They moved to Rice County in 1873, and he lived there the rest of his days. He was elected as County Treasurer after 1873 in Rice County, Kansas. He was elected to this office twice. He was elected as Mayor after 1873 in Sterling, Rice County, Kansas. He was elected Mayor twice, and it is reported that he ran for local office eighteen times and "was never defeated for an office." Jacob member of the I. O. O. F. after 1873 in Sterling, Rice County, Kansas. He Secretary of the Republican State Central Committee after 1873 in Kansas. He died on 24 November 1915. Jacob was described as calm, composed, and unexciteable, as were the rest of his family.. His children later stated they never saw their father get angry, and "when anyone did him an injustice, he very calmly told him what he had to say. When circumstances became irritating, Jacob merely walked off." He a regular and active member of the I. O. O. F. and G. A. R. for fifty years. His name has also been found as Baker Seward.
