Wolf remembers, "Mother mentioned during their years, Indians would camp along the Wood River, about one mile south of their house. They would come to the house and beg for food. If nobody was home, the Indians just took the food. She also mentioned the grasshopper plague of the 70's that took everything." Dallas Rugh Henderson remembered the Pawnee & Sioux stealing from each other. They didn't molest the early settlers, mainly taking what was laying around. However, if you were cooking meat, especially pork, they would walk right in and take it from the pan. They called it "hoggie" meat.
