He went on to other islands, where he was awarded the Silver Star and promoted to Sergeant Major. He continued in service after the war, where he saw early combat in the Korean War and was at Inchon, where he participated in the famous "march to the sea." He later was pensioned out due to post-Korean frostbite. He died on 11 July 1959 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas. Wallace was buried after 11 July 1959 in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. William was an active member and founder of Rocky Springs Baptist Church after 1837 in New Market, Highland County, Ohio. William and Rachel were members of the original congregation here, of what later became New Market Baptist Church, where so many family members are buried. On 1 June 1850 he was an a farmer in New Market Township, Highland County, Ohio. He owned real estate valued at $4,000 on 1 June 1850. William signed a will on 9 June 1854 in New Market Township, Highland County, Ohio. He left varying sums of money to his children and grandchildren, left his farm to his son Brownfield who was living on it at the time, and made sure his wife was taken care of for the rest of her days as well. He died on 11 November 1854 in New Market, Highland County, Ohio. Have also found his date of death given as 20 Nov 1854 as well as Sep 1852.
