      Pg.828: The Presbyterian church was organized on the 19th day of June, 1855. At the April meeting of the Peoria Presbytery, a petition for the organization of a Presbyterian church had been presented by Mr. J.C. Duncan, signed by nineteen members. ... J.C. Duncan and Ralph Martin were the first ruling elders.
      Pg.1038: D. FRANK LAWLEY, lawyer, was born in Ball Township, Sangamon County, Ill., June 26, 1863. He comes of good Southern stock, his paternal grandparents, William and Mary (Duncan) Lawley, being born in Virginia, while his maternal grandparents, Jonathan R. and Minerva E. (Barnard) Peddicord, were natives of Kentucky. His parents were D.W. and Cassandra P. (Peddicord) Lawley, the father's place of birth being Sangamon County, Ill., in the year 1828. His mother was born in Kentucky in 1836. ...
      Pg.1081: GEORGE H. SMALL, Deer Creek, was born March 4, 1844, on a farm not far from his present home, where his father, Robert Small, settled in 1822. ... On March 2, 1871, Mr. Small was married to Maggie Pinkard, born in Lexington, McLean County, Ill., April 10, 1849, the daughter of Rev. John and Caroline (Gibson) Pinkard. ... Mrs. Small died in 1897, after rearing five children: Frank Edwin, Mertal, Della, Jennie, and Ora. The present Mrs. Small was formerly Mrs. Jessie (Tyric) Duncan, born in Arbroath, Scotland.

      Pg.1565-6: EDWIN E. DUNCAN. Although a resident but a brief time of Yolo county, Edwin E. Duncan has already established for himself a reputation among the progressive and enterprising farmers. He is located on a forty-acre ranch one mile west of Woodland, which property is given over to the cultivation ....
      A native of Illinois, he was born near Pekin, Tazewell county, March 13, 1866. His grandfather and father, both named George, were natives of Scotland, who became early settlers of Illinois, both engaging as farmers in that state throughout their entire lives. His mother, formerly Jessie Tyrie, was also a native of Scotland. She still survives her husband and makes her home in Illinois. She was the mother of ten children, of whom eight are living, Edwin E. being the third in order of birth. He was reared to young manhood in his native state, receiving his education in the district school in the vicinity of his home. When nineteen years old he rented a part of the old home, upon which he engaged in farming and stock-raising until 1901, when he removed to Wapello Co. IA, and in the vicinity of Ottumwa bought a farm of two hundred and three acres. He remained in that location for two years engaged in farming, when he returned to Illinois and in Morton county followed the real estate business. In March, 1904, he came to California and in the vicinity of Woodland purchased property which he still owns and operates, having met with success thus far in his labors. ....
      In Morton, Tazewell Co. IL, Mr. Duncan was united in marriage with Ada L. Webb, a native of that place, and the daughter of Francis Webb, a farmer by occupation, but who is now residing in Woodland, on North street. They are the parents of two children, Howard and Stanley. Fraternally Mr. Duncan is identified ....

      Pg.1450: Butler Co., Prospect Twp. JOHN A. DUNCAN, farmer and stock raiser, Section 27, P.O. El Dorado, is a native of Ohio, born February 27, 1836. He was educated and reared in that State. In 1861 he enlisted in the Third Ohio Volunteer Infantry, serving three years in the Department of the Cumberland. Was mustered out at expiration of three years and came to Illinois. For several years he was a resident of Champaign County, Ill. He was married to Miss Harriet K. Hammond, in Ill. They have eight children -- Zelia M., James E., Harry E., Lavina B., Charles S., Rose G., Grace A. and Mattie L., (infant). (MAD: married DeWitt Co. IL; 1870 Tazewell Co. IL census)
