"History of the Republican Party in Ohio, edited by Joseph P. Smith, and Memoirs of its Representative Supporters in Two Imperial Quarto Volumes" (from title page of book)
Vol.II, pg.443-444: JUDGE THOMAS E. DUNCAN - The prestige attained by a man in political, business or professional life ... The bar of Ohio received a valuable acquisition when Judge Duncan was admitted as an attorney at law, and for thirty-five years this gentleman has held a distinctly prominent place among the legal practitioners of the Buckeye state, as well as being a conspicuous factor in the political arena as a stanch supporter of the Republican party. The Judge's identification with the legal fraternity dates from 1863, when he was admitted to practice, being at that time the youngest member of the Ohio bar, ... In 1868 he was nominated and elected to the office of prosecuting attorney, and was re-elected in 1870. In 1873 he was chosen by his party to represent his district in the Ohio general assembly, and was returned in 1875. ... In 1881 he was appointed one of the directors of the Ohio penitentiary by Governor Foster, in 1882 he was chosen judge of the common-pleas court for the sixth district, second subdivision, and in 1884 he was a delegate to the national convention that nominated Blaine in Chicago, ... In 1893 Judge Duncan was again elected judge of the court of common pleas, ... and in this official capacity he represented the counties of Morrow, Richland and Ashland. ... The two sons of Judge Duncan, William and Seth C., are, like their father, uncompromising Republicans and have been valuable contributors to the success and welfare of their party in "Morris" county. William was graduated at the Cincinnati Law School in 1890, and in the same year moved to Findlay, Hancock county, where he engaged in practice and was elected city attorney, being at the present time chairman of the county executive committee. Seth C., who also graduated at the Cincinnati Law School, is a rising young attorney, an energetic Republican and in 1896 was chairman of the Republican central committee of Morris county. William Duncan, father of our subject, was a strong partisan and local leader in the ranks of the Whig party, and later joined the Republican party upon its formation, ... He was accidentally killed by a falling tree in 1876. The following six sons were born to him: Thomas, William, John, James, George, and Andrew, all of whom are living and give their united support to the Republican party. Andrew, James and George were participants in the war of the Rebellion. (MAD: nothing said about the wives of any of the men.) (MAD: "Morris" county as given, but it should be Morrow Co.)

"Historical & Biographical Sketch, One Branch of the Williamson Family, 1745-1906" by Rev. Robert Duncan Williamson (Library of Congress book CS71.W729 1906)
Pg.14+: Chapter III. Mother's Ancestry and a Part of Her History. Catherine Duncan Williamson, our mother, was the youngest daughter but one of Andrew Duncan and Anne Smith. She was born in York Co. PA, July 11, 1788, about two miles from Cross Roads and three miles from the old Round Hill Presbyterian Church.
Her grandfather and grandmother, James and Elizabeth Duncan, were natives of Ireland, of Scotch-Irish birth, and came to this country from the North of Ireland about the year 1748 or 1750, locating in the eastern part of PA in what was then known as Lancaster Co. They had four sons and two daughters, James, Robert, John and Andrew, and Mary and Elizabeth. (Smith parents not copied here.)
Andrew Duncan, mother's father was born in York Co. PA March 10, 1750. He was the youngest son of James and Elizabeth Duncan of Chestnut Level, Lancaster Co. PA, near Piquea. James Duncan was no doubt the son of Andrew or William Duncan, who came into the country from Perthshire, Scotland, about 1722 or 1730. Andrew, William and Thomas were sons of William Duncan, and Margaret McMurdo of Dumfries, Scotland. William was a son of Rev. William of Perthshire, a martyr of 1690. The above seems to be our ancestry on mother's side of the house, and until disproved we accept it, and it is an ancestry of which we may well feel proud. Ann Smith, his wife, mother's mother, was born June 7, 1755, and died October 15, 1805, aged 50 years, 4 months and 8 days.
Andrew Duncan and Anne Smith were married June 18, 1772. The first wife died October 15, 1805, when he was married the 2nd time to Elizabeth Andrews, June 27, 1809.

Vol.II, Pg.122-123: ARNOTT CHANEY RICKETTS, law profession ... lived in this city since 1872. He was born on a farm near Findlay, in Hancock county, Ohio, March 18, 1845, a son of John C. Ricketts, who devoted the greater part of his life to agricultural pursuits in Hancock County but afterward spent several years in Findlay, Ohio, and his last years at the home of his son in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born in Fairfield county, Ohio, March 4, 1815, and passed away in Lincoln, June 8, 1894, when in his eightieth year. He was twice married, first to Catharine Duncan, by whom he had six children, five sons and a daughter, as follows: Andrew Duncan, born January 29, 1843, who is a veteran of the Union army and a grain dealer of Champaign, Illinois; Arnott Chaney, of this review; Emma J., who was born June 1, 1847, and is now Mrs. Louis Scothorn, of Lincoln, Nebraska; Charles Kelley, who was born October 14, 1849, and died July 9, 1864; James Melville, born November 25, 1852, who passed away at Salt Lake City, Utah, May 21, 1901; John Milton, twin brother of James M., who was a very promising young physician ... who died at Colorado Springs, Colorado, on the 21st of October, 1881. The mother of these children passed away on the 15th of August, 1855, and subsequently John C. Ricketts was married a second time. The father, mother and three deceased children are all buried in Wyuka cemetery of Lincoln, Nebraska. Arnott C. Ricketts ... came to Lincoln in 1872 ... on the 1st of May, 1873, he wedded Miss Louisa M. Lowe, who passed away March 28, 1902, leaving two children ... On the 23d of June, 1909, Mr. Ricketts was again married ... Miss Sarah Elizabeth Thompson ...
