Whereas Amos Hough of the Co. of (blank) has requested to take up 170 acres of land, including an improvement adjoining lands of Lawrence Crow, John Duncan, Thomas Carroll and others, on the waters of Maple Creek, in Washington Co., ... at the rate of £10 per 100 acres, per Act of Assembly 1st April 1784, interest to commence from 1 March 1786, these are to authorize and require you to survey to the said Amos Hough the said quantity of acres. Dated 7 May 1789.

      1X-341: 2 Nov. 1795, Samuel Hannah and wife Elizabeth, John Neilson and wife Margret (X), James Neilson and wife Ann (X), heirs of John Duncan decd of Washington Co. PA to John Duncan, Andrew Duncan and Robert Duncan, also heirs of John Duncan decd of same, for £50 PA money, all our right title and claim to our share of the real estate of our decd father John Duncan, it being one undivided third part of a certain tract of land in Chartiers Township, Washington Co. PA, adj. lands of James McNary, George Wallace, widow Allison, and widow Hues; wit. Patrick McCullier, Daniel McLane, James Ramsay; John & Margret Neilson and James & Anne Neilson appeared in Allegheny Co. bef. Wm. Littel, JP, 6/20/1796; statement 5/20/1813 by Revd. James Ramsay who witnessed the deed at the office of William Little Esq. of Allegheny Co., also present were James Neilson and Anne his wife and the Revd. Daniel McLean, another subscribing witness, that Ramsay is unable at this distance of time to say that he has a distinct recollection of the sealing and delivery of the deed by James Neilson and his wife Anne but presumes that they must have sealed and delivered it in his presence as upon all occasions where he has been called on to attest any deed, he has been particularly careful to see that the parties subscribed it and complied with the requisite formalities.       1X-342: 15 Dec. 1806, John Duncan of Ohio State of the Ohio to his brother Andrew Duncan of Washington Co. PA; that John Duncan father of the above John and Andrew Duncan died intestate and left a certain tract of land in Chartiers Township, Washington Co. PA adjoining land of James McNary and others where said Andrew Duncan now lives; there were eight heirs to said land, viz, Elizabeth, Anne, Margaret, John, Andrew, Mary, Susannah, and Isabella; that John Duncan purchased those of his sisters claims and caused them to make over their claims to Andrew Duncan, in the records in Washington Co., Viz, Anne, Margaret, and Mary; that John Duncan for $400 paid by Andrew Duncan, sells to Andrew Duncan all his right to his part of the land, the said 1/8 of the tract and likewise his sisters, viz, Anne Duncan, Margaret Duncan, and Mary Duncan, parts. Wit. William Slemons, William Slemons, Jr. Receipt 15 Dec. 1860 for $500 (sic). John Duncan ack. deed in Washington Co. PA before William Slemons, JP, 12/15/1806. Rec. 5/31/1813.

      1T-344: I, James Calvin of Washington Co. PA, blacksmith, give over to my son Robt. Calvin 50 acres of land lying on the SW end of the plantation where Samuel Hunter now occupies with all improvements, water and buildings, to be layd off in the manner measuring 15 rod from the spring ... to the top of the rige by Samuel Hunter's house ... which land after my decease he is to hold as his own property, likewise he is to have the benefit of the half of the 3 (31?) acres meader over the lane while he keepeth sd land but if he sell the meadow returns back to the old place, likewise he is to pay to his half sisters five pounds specie when they come to age and for confirmation hereof I "settoo" my hand and seal 18 day (no month) 1796. /s/ James Calvin. Washington Co., on 15 April 1796 came before me one of Associate Judges of Court of Common Pleas, said James Calvin Junior who swore he saw the within James Calvin sign the within instrument, and he did also see Joseph Cooper the other witness sign his name, /a/ James Calvin, before Mathew Ritchie.
