Browns of Hindsville, Arkansas before 1900

Brown Boys married Hiram Kelly's daughters.

This material is not well organized and I may have sent the census information previously. I read the links from three pages of Bell County information and I believe I located the burial place and gravestone data for Elmina (Kelly) and Joseph Brown. I plan to be in Texas to attend the FGS Conference in September, and I may be able to locate the cemetery and get photos of the gravestones. While I believe this data is Emina Kelly (daughter of Hiram KELLY and his 2nd wife Malinda) and Joseph Brown, I would feel more comfortable if I can locate additional documentation.

I have been searching for documentation for the families of Elizabeth Jane Kelly and husband David Brown and Elmina Kelly and Joseph Brown. The following information I have discovered is the result of my research, if you have time to check the information and let me know if you have corrections or additions.

Jonelle

1850 Census of Madison County, Missouri; 54th district page 405 A- 405 B.

° family # 404 is M - - - - - - Brown, a 25 year old cabinet maker born in Alabama,
Martha Brown , age 26, born in Missouri;
Joseph Brown, a 15 year old farmer born in Alabama, and
------ Brown, a 17 year old famer also born in Alabama.

° family # 405 is Jesse Martin, a 67 year old farmer born in North Carolina
Smith Brown, age 30 born in Alabama and
Darella- Brown age 33 born in Missouri

1860 Census, Six Mile Township, Franklin County  Arkansas, .Series: M653  Roll: 41  Page: 376

Smith Brown age 42, farmer born in Tennessee

? G. Brown, male age 13, born in Missouri
John S Brown, age 11, born in Missouri
Thomas Brown age 68, shoemaker born North Carolina

I believe the Brown and Martin families are related. The basis for this assumption is finding Smith Brown & a 25 year old Martin Brown (born in Missouri) residing next door to David (age 24) & Elizabeth Jane (age 20, born in Georgia) and their children : Hiram age 4, Sarah 2, and Alice 6 months; in Piney Township of Madison County Arkansas in 1870.

They are believed to have been originally buried in Liberty Hill, which was either coved by Lake Belton or became part of the Fort Hood Military Installation. They were reburied in Rest Haven Cemetery. I have photos of the new graves. I will try to find where the Liberty Hill cemetery was located. I'm in southern California for a meeting.

I have to finish some reports for tomorrow morning. I'll get back to research Monday or Tuesday.

Elmina Brown, infant Brown, Joseph Brown, J. T. Brown were moved from Liberty Hill Cemetery.  I do not have a date that they were moved but others have the date of 1942.
