Pennsylvania

Looking for any information on Bernard Cullen (b. 1845-1849) who was born in
Co. Leitrim Ireland. He came to the US around 1860-65 and settled in
Philadelphia, PA, where he married Catherine Kelly in 1867 and raised three
children before dying in 1924. He remained in the Philadelphia area.

His death certificate lists his parents as John Cullen and Bridget
Devanny(sp?) both from Ireland. I don't know if his parents traveled to the
US or not. I have Bernard and his family on all US Census records and know a
lot about him and his family on the US side.

I'm looking for any clues to his Irish birth place, his parents and how he
swam to Philadelphia.

Appreciate the chance to post my "most wanted" KELLY ancestor.  Searching for
Patrick KELLY, b. abt. 1820, Ireland, possibly Co. GalwayUS, abt. 1840 to
1850; settling somewhere in PA, possibly Blair, Centre, Huntingdon counties;
married Mary Ann DOLAN c. 1850 with two known children:  Patrick/Patsy, b. abt.
1851/52, PA county not known; and Mary Anna, b. abt. 1854/55 county not known.

Mary Ann DOLAN marries a second time to Richard HALL, c. 1856; their first
two children-sons were John, b. 1857 and Richard, b. 1859; baptized St.
Matthew's Catholic church, Tyrone Twp., Blair Co., PA. [as per Fr. Ledoux's volumes]. 
Mary Ann DOLAN KELLY and Richard HALL end up in Allegheny Co., where two
additional children-girls were born; both are buried in St. Mary's Catholic
cemetery, Lawrenceville, Allegheny Co., PA.

When did Patrick die and where is he buried?  When and where were he and Mary
Ann DOLAN married?  When and where were their two children, Patrick/Patsy and

May KELLY; two boy infants [names unknown]; a girl infant [name unknown]; and
Stella KELLY.  We have no info on the dates of birth for these five children,
but thought to be in either Allegheny or Westmoreland Co., PA.

Also searching for descendants of Mary Ann nee DOLAN KELLY [1st spouse] HALL
[2nd spouse], namely: John HALL and Richard HALL, also of Allegheny Co., PA.

Searching for information about my 2nd Gr-grf, Patrick KELLY, b. 1818, Co.
Galway, IrelandAmerica, 1841, Port of New YorkDeclaration of Intent made in
Centre Co., PA, 1844; Naturalized, 1845, Centre Co., PA; Married Mary Ann
DOLAN (1825, Co. Galway, Ireland--1890, Allegheny city, Allegheny Co., PA);
Two known children:  Patrick/Patsy KELLY, b. abt. 1852, PA [county unknown],
and Mary Anna KELLY, b. 1855, PA [county unknown].

Hoping to locate Patrick in the 1850 PA Federal census, but have had
difficulty, as there are reportedly 77 Patrick KELLYs in the PA 1850 census. 
Patrick is not found in the Centre Co., PA census, 1850; nor the Allegheny
Co. PA 1850 census.  He probably died abt. 1858-60, as his wife Mary Ann
DOLAN married a second time, abt. 1862, to one Richard HALL.

 I recently tried this with William's brother, Samuel, and got some bites, so
 here goes with William.

 William, son of Robert Kelly, born Cumberland, now Perry, County, PA.  A
 minor in 1778, according to father's will written 1778.  Siblings: 
 Archibald, Samuel, Henry, Mary, Jean, Sarah and Nancy.  Mother's name not
 known.  Dad dies just before 1790 and misses out on his opportunity to be
 part of the first American census.

 Brother Archibald married Elsie Clawson 1793, and brother Samuel m. Eliz.
 Kilgore 1792, both at First Presbyterian Carlisle.  Evidence found of Samuel,
 Henry and Archibald in Cumberland until 1800.  Archibald (my line) moves to
 Indiana County between 1801-1806, and stays there.  Samuel, Henry and William
 drop off the face of the earth.  The sisters vaporize as well.  Any takers?

    I have a Lawrence Kelly born about 1740 in Pennsylvania.  Lawrence Kelly
married Martha Smith somewhere in the southeast region of Pennsylvania.
Possibly near Carlisle.  Marriage was performed and recorded by Rev. John
Conrad Bucher on April 8, 1767.  I do not know who the parents are for
Lawrence Kelly.   Lawrence & Martha Kelly were living in the area of Lewisburg
or Milton Pennsylvania.  That's either White Deer Township or Buffalo Township
for 1775-1800.

I am hoping to find a connection with other Kelly families for this location
and dates.   U-whoo.....  any Kellys out there that fit?   Contact me.  Tom

I'm looking for the parents for Lawrence Kelly and Martha Smith.  Also
all descendants.  Supposedly both Lawrence and Martha were born in
Pennsylvania.  Lawrence Kelly (or Kelley) born about 1740 and Martha
Smith born about 1742.  They were married on April 8, 1767 in
Pennsylvania most likely in Cumberland or Lancaster County.  The exact
location is not known.  This marriage was performed and recorded by Rev.
John Conrad Bucher.  It is believed that Rev. Bucher first lived in
Carlisle, PA. then moved to Lebanon, PA. around 1768.  From the Annals
of Buffaloe Valley, PA.,  Lawrence and Martha Kelly are listed as living
in White Deer Township, Northumberland County, PA. in 1775.  This is
near Lewisburg and Kelly Point in Union County, PA. today.  What was
Northumberland County at the time they lived there and changed to Union
County in 1813.  During the Revolutionary War, Lawrence Kelly was a
private in Captain John Forster's Company.  This was the 1st Company in
the 1st Battalion known as the Northumberland Rangers.  In command of
the 1st Battalion was Colonel John Kelly.  It is very possible that
Lawrence Kelly and Colonel John Kelly are related.  How is not known.
Perhaps first cousins or maybe even brothers.  Colonel John Kelly was
born in 1744.  The town of Kelly Point is named after Colonel John
Kelly.   Lawrence Kelly lived in Northumberland County until about
1800.  Then moved west through western Pennsylvania to Steubenville,
Jefferson County, Ohio.  Staying there only for a few years.  Then about
1810 Lawrence and Martha Kelly along with their Sons and Daughters
(Hugh, John, Abraham, Martha, Elizabeth, William, Davis) arrived in Blue
lick, Monroe Township, Clark County, Indiana.  Where Lawrence and Martha
both died in September of 1823 and are buried at Mountain Grove
Cemetery.

Anyone who has knowledge about the Kelly or Smith Families in
Pennsylvania during the 1700's or anyone who feels they maybe related to
Lawrence and Martha Kelly may contact me.

I'm researching the following and hoped that perhaps someone may connect
or if not perhaps I may be directed to a Kelly homepage.  I've just
learned the name of my ggGrandmother from my Mom and would like to begin
a more accurate trace.  We are most interested in finding the genetic
connection from James Poe Kelly to the Edgar Allan Poe family.

James Poe Kelly married Margaret Brown in Dundee, Angus Scotland.  Dec.
27, 1825.  Among other children one son was named ?Russell, and another
named:

James Watson Kelly  married Mary Agnes Bickel Kelly, likely in PA or
more than likely West VA.   (Parkersburg) James Watson Kelly died 1928
at 63 yrs. old. (?1865) Mary Agnes Bickel Kelly was 58 yrs. old at the
time of his death. (?1860)
He died  in Loreto-dias Province, Buried in Britanico Bilbao, Spain.  He
was known as a "war engineer", or the more familiar term "Oil
Wildcatter" (A True Pioneer)

The death certificate shows he was buried in Jefferson Province USA (?
This is possible Jefferson Township PA (??)

His children were:

Helen Kelly was my Grandmother whom married Roger Alpine Grant.  His
Mother's maiden name was Jenny Gould.  Jenny was married to Allen Peter
Grant.  Jenny Goulds  maiden name was Bremner,  (her Mom being Annie)
and Annie was the daughter of Robert Bremner the founder of the Bremner
Bakery Co. in Chicago known as (Bremner Wafers) and later becoming
Nabisco.

John Calvin Kelley's death certificate says that his parents were Philip
KELLEY and Martha ISENBERG both born somewhere in PA. I've found John at the
age of 15 in 1860 in LeClair twp, Scott Co., IA but no Philip or Martha.
I've searched for John, Philip and Martha in PA before then but haven't
found them. John was born April 10, 1844 and died May 10, 1931 in IA. He
married Mary E. DAUGHENBAUGH. Their children were Oscar, Myrtle, Hayes,
Minnie, Logan R. and Verna M. Do these names sound familiar to anyone?

and who died about 1790.  No wife was named, so she may have died just before
will was written.  Children named:

All of the boys were minors in 1778

Archibald, we're pretty sure, moved to Indiana County, PA and may have
married Elsie Clawson in 1793 (my line).  Samuel may have married Elizabeth
Kilgore,  Nancy (aka Elizabeth) may have married William Kilgore.   Sarah did
something she shouldn't have, for she was left a token in the will.

I am trying to trace my Kelly relatives who lived in Philadelphia in the 1800's. I found a James Kelly who was born in Marayunk, Pa. and baptised at St. John the Baptists, however I can't find any mention of this area except it used to be part of Philadelphia. Does this sound familiar to anyone or can anyone tell me what county this area should be in. I am looking for a Hugh Kelly married to a Johanna McMahon. Their son James Kelly was born in 1863 and I believe that Hugh Kelly came from Ireland with a brother Charles Kelly. Any information would be appreciated since I am really stuck.
