GEORGIA
Bob G,
I would be interested in your Pruitt information. With dna, we have connected with the Pruitt who was here in 1640 but I am still trying to figure out the lines of descent. We have a few Alexanders in the line. To date I have traced them back to about 1797 in South Carolina where David or Davis Pruett (my ggg-grandfather) would have been born. His son, Joseph B. Prewett (my gg-grandfather) was born about 1823, I believe, in Georgia and his son Davis Marion, born about 1855 (my g-grandfather) also born in Georgia. They moved to Alabama between 1855 and 1860 to Blount County. When Cullman County was formed in the 1880's. I believe it incorporated the portion of Blount County where they had been living. My grandfather, Burl C. Pruett, was born 1893 in Cullman County, Alabama.
Joseph B. Pruett is buried in Heflin Cemetery, Moulton, Lawrence County, Alabama. A couple of years ago, a CSA commemorative stone was placed at his grave site.
These men were small in size with blond hair and blue eyes. Could you send me your information as a pdf file.
For anyone descended from Davis Pruett, Joseph Pruett, etc. there is a family reunion held every year in Cullman County, Alabama.

Bob G.,
I can't get my Pruitt line past 1822. I'd be interested in receiving a copy of the picture. Would you mind sending it to me?
Thanks,
Linda

I have a Willie Pruitt in my fathers family.I also have a picture of him. He was a small man, like my father and his brothers.
If you will give me a few days I will scan it and send it by email. I
will need your email address.
By the way I had the Pruitt's back to 1640. So We have been in the country a long time.

Unfortunately I have no further info on my Pruitt line. This line has become a serious stumbling block. I know there are descendants out there that know the family history...I met some at a reunion when I was a kid...but no one now seems to be willing to part with their knowledge. I was just fishing with my previous post...using all my bait!
All I know is that my Pruitts were in the Shoal Creek area of Hart County, GA abt 1880. John W. Pruitt (b abt 1845 d 1904) was head of household. He was married to a Lucy ??? Their known children were--- (in order of birth)

-Troas (f) (b Sep 1878)
-Albert Ackerman (b 2 Jan 1880 d 11 Mar 1940)

I don't have locations for the marriages. David and Michael were both
born in VA. David died in Georgia and Michael in Suth Carolina,
according to my database.

Subject: [PRUITT] Two Pruitts married to one Erikson
I just noticed in my database that I have David Pruitt (~1740- 1830)
and his brother Michael Pruitt (~1735-1813) both married to Rachel
Dawson Erikson as their second wives. (David and Michael married
Bright sisters as first wives.)
I have no date for David and Rachel's marriage and 1804 for Michael
and Rachel's marriage. Can someone help me sort this out?
Thank you,

The furthest I have back is William Emory Preuett on the 1850 census in
Meriwether County. He is listed as Emory Pruitte age 25 , I believe...I am
at work and dont have the record in front of me. He is head of house with
his wife Mary Jane (I think her maiden name may have been Smith). His
birthplace is listed as GA...hers MS. They had one son, Henry D., at that
time. He was born in 1848. After Henry, they had more children and moved
to Winn Parish, LA about 1854-55. I think Henry D is Henry David. And
seeing how the family named their sons after grandfathers often, it is
possible that Emory's father may have been a Henry or a David.
In Meriwether Co., 1850, there are two other Pruitte's listed.....Turner and
Moses. I have traced their family tree from these two brothers and they do
not seem to be related to Emory...altho they may have been great uncles or
cousins. On the 1840 and 1830 census, I have been trying to plot all the
Pruitts/Preuetts/ etc that had a son or sons about the age of Emory (15 in
1840/5 inn 1830). Troup County had a John, I think, who may be a candidate,
but there is also a Mark. My next step is to find the wills for these
gentlemen and see if Emory is listed at all. I would also like to find out
the marriage date/place for Emory and his wife's maiden name. I do know
that Emory's mother was a Millie or Emily Preuett who was born about 1778 in
NC and died in Winn Parish, LA about 1860 but that is all I know so far.
Thanks for the info
