Hickory Cove Baptist Church, according to the church
minutes, had few members and it
seems most of them were surname Rutledge or Wilson.
It seems that Sarah Wilson, or perhaps Mary Wilson, married Thomas Rutledge
sometime around the 1825-1830 timeframe............probably married in their
church, but still
looking for the marriage document.
That church was near the town of Rogersville and we know
the Rutledges lived at one point in Camelot twp near the Holston river for several years.
Stephen W. Rutledge spoke of that place in his Civil War era diary.
In the church minutes:
Rutledge Members: Jackson, Thomas, Lorenzo, Emanuel,
Lucy.
Wilson Members: Samuel Sr., Samuel Jr. Sam Sr. (perhaps
the same), Mary, Nancy, Robert, Willie, Polly, Sally, Sarah. Sally may be
"Sally White Apron" referred to in Stephen Rutledge's Civil War era diary.
