Read bio of Williamson including information about Beebe.
This family New York to Ohio to Iowa, then Beebe to Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma with Pruitt.
ASTABULA, OHIO:
Hi Kim and other potential relatives.
Tracking Chauncey Williamson (grandma spelled it Chawncey) born 1823:
Eight years in New York, one year in Pennsylvania then the family moved to
Monroe (probably a town) in Astabula County, Ohio where he had a common
education.
Then about 1844 (age 21) he moved to Oaklan County Michigan where he worked
for six years (until age 27)
We don't know if his parents went with him or if they and younger children
stayed in Astabula.................nothing else has been said about his
parents.
Then in 1850 (about age 28) he started for California (he was a Morman) but
stopped at Council Bluffs, Iowa and lived most of the remainder of his life
as a Priest of the LDS church in Gallands Grove, Shelby County, Iowa.
After traching several lines of ancestors it seems common for part of a
family to stay and part move on west.
Here a possible relation would depend on part of the Williamson family
stayed in Astabula County.........probably with younger children, while a
foot loose Chauncey went his own way and made his own future.
If we find the names of other Williamsons who were in Astabula (or nearby)
around 1890,
the probability of direct relationship is certainly enhanced. Names to look
for of course are Chauncey's parents, John and Nancy Williamson which may be
found in land records, or in Census records. Also, since their son was
Morman, they also may have shared that faith. There is no records yet found
in Iowa to indicate his parents were with him in that state......the record
ends at Astabula.
Thanks a bunch...........I will develop on this information and keep your
address in case I find more about them.
Thanks again all.

Subject: Re: [Ash.OH] ANCESTOR TRACK
Although not a direct descendant, I believe our families are connected. I
am direct descendant of Dr. Alfred Tanner who was a veterinarian born in
Wellington County, Ontario, Canada in 1835. He married Hannah Hendy Tyack,
also an Ontario native. They migrated around 1883 to Ashtabula County.
Their daughter Mary TANNER married a WILLIAMSON around 1890. The 1900
census shows Mary as the head of household with children Myrtle and Harry.
There was another child who died before that census. Another child, Ruth,
was born around 1905. The father of these children was born in Ohio. Mary
and her daughters, Myrtle and Ruth, lived with Mary's parents in 1910. She
is still listed as married. If you have any information on this family,
please contact me.

Most of what our family knows about this family is included in the
Biography
below which was written thirty years after the family moved to Shelby
County
Iowa.
Thanks to you all and I hope this record helps some of you.

Chauncey Williamson
Chauncey Williamson, a native of Onondaga County, Town of Spofford, New
York, was born May 23, 1823.
He is the son of John and Nancy Williamson, natives of New York.
When he was eight years old his parents removed from New York to
Pennsylvania, remaining there one winter; they then went to Monroe,
Ashtabula County, Ohio, and here our subject dwelt until he was twenty
years old, receiving a common-school education.
When he left Ohio he went to Oakland County, Michigan, remaining there
about six years; here he was employed in various pursuits, and in the
spring of 1850 he started to California. On reaching Council Bluffs he
stopped, and concluded to remain in Iowa.
Mr. Williamson was married April 15, 1851, to Miss Elizabeth J. Liston.
Seven children were born to them - George H., Matilda (deceased), Henry
(deceased), John, Nancy, wife of David Baughman; Mary, wife of C. A.
Beebe,
and David.
Mrs. Williamson was called to the other life in October, 1869, at the age
of thirty-nine years.
Mr. Williamson was again married February 22, 1872, to Leanah, the widow
of Milton M. Beebe, and daughter of William and Polly (Headrick) Van
Ausdell.
She was born in Lawrence County, Ohio, May 29, 1826, and was married to
Milton M. Beebe in Lee County, Iowa, in 1850.
They resided in Shelby County from 1851 until 1857, and during this time
Mr. Beebe figured quite prominently in business and political circles of
the county. He was engaged in the mercantile trade in Manteno, and was
elected the first sheriff of the county.
In 1857 he removed to Missouri, and died there before the close of the
Rebellion.
In 1866 Mrs. Beebe and five children returned to Shelby County; the
children are - Luella G. (deceased), wife of Isaac Fauts; Georgianna V.,
wife of George Williamson; Cornelius A., Kate I., wife of Henry Urfer;
Mary
M., wife of Marion Hawley.
Mr. Williamson and Mrs. Beebe were married February 22, 1872. After his
first marriage Mr. Williamson resided in Mills County, then Harrison
County, and in 1854 came to Shelby County, and purchased 160 acres of land
in Grove Township, which he still makes his home.
He has made many valuable improvements, erecting a residence and barns
for stock and grain. Mr. Williamson has done much toward the advancement
and growth of this part of Shelby County, and has held many positions of
trust among the people.
He assisted in the organizing of the school districts in his section.
In politics his sentiments find expression in the principles of the
Republican party.
Mr. and Mrs. Williamson are consistent members of the reorganized church
of Jesus Christ, or the Latter-Day Saints, he having served as priest in
this body for twenty-six years.
They have been zealous workers in their church, and have done much for
the religious element of the community, and are deserving of the regard in
which they are held.

Note from Admin: Sparce, but My gggMilton Beebe line came from east coast to Ohio where Milton Beebe married then took his family to Iowa where he was purported to be sheriff of Lee County.
He was in the Civil War and robbed and shot dead on his way home. Then the family
His son married my ggrandma Elizabeth Williamson Beebe near Des Moines City Iowa. They moved to Missouri where my grandmother was born 1885. Within twenty years the family was in Gainesville, Texas where grandma Floy Beebe married Henry Pruitt.
anything here sound familiar? donkelly
Would like to hear from anyone connected to Thomas Edward BEEBE (b. abt 1799 in Clermont Co. Ohio. He married Elizabeth VORHEES. She died 10 Nov 1875 in Ogden, UT. His parents are supposedly Thomas BEEBE and Betsie EDGARS.
Is anyone out there related to a Willis P. Beebe and a Cora
Gossett from southern Ohio? These folks had nine children. Clifford, Benjamin,
Richard, James, Willis, Vesta, Doris, Pauline and Wilma Jean. Moved to Stark
county Ohio.
Parents of Willis were Luther Beebe and Mary Ellis. Parents of Cora were Charles
W. Gossett and Addie Arnold.
Haven't researched much further back. Some of these Beebe's are pretty
mysterious. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
