The following is an excerpt from the corporate attorney for CSX.

Mr. Duncan, CSX has no objection to your planned use of the material. Based on the statement regarding the age of the L and N, the work was probably published about 1940. Under the copyright law in effect at that time, even if renewed for a second term the copyright would have expired. Grandfathering provisions would not apply here. Even if published a few years later and if we had any residual rights, CSX does not object to this use. Karen Koster Burr, Esq.
