The project's goal is to determine if the various lines of Basden/Baisden descent have a common ancestral base. As of December 28, 2003 we have 7 participants descending from 4 male ancestors. Results indicated that three of the men are related and the 4th is a distinct line of descent. We do not know how the three men are related. The DNA results indicate that they are close family members. Close being defined as having a 50 percent chance of having a common ancestor within 14 generations. The generations are measured backwards from their decscendants. From the number of matching DNA markers , it appears that their common ancestor is within 7 generations.
