Notes from Todd Easton on the transcription of William Starr Easton's 1889 book,
"Descendants of Joseph Easton, Hartford, Conn., 1636-1899"

The numbers in square brackets,[ ], following some of the names in my file are the Family Number used by William Starr Easton's book and are included to aid in cross-referencing back to the book.

Below are some inconsistancies that turned up while entering info from the book:
  1. Since the numbers 393 -397 were previously used in the book to designate other families, the five families listed in the back of the book under "Additional Information" as 393 - 397 are listed in my file as 393a - 397a.
  2. Eunice, dau. of #45 Joseph Easton: birth and death dates listed as b. May 21, 1703; d. 1893, age 10. If correct that would make her 190 years old at the time of her death! It is my guess that her likely dates are b. May 21, 1793; d. 1803 which would make her 10 years old at the time of her death but in my file I have chosen not to include any date info.
  3. Glen C. Childs, son of #47 Rachel Easton: Glen's birthdate is listed as June 21, 1834. If this is correct, his mother would have been 86 years old at the time of his birth! It is my guess that Glen C. Childs was the son of #47 Rachel's daughter Sophia; in which case his name would actually be Glen C. Ledyard. Despite this inconsistancy, I have kept things as listed in the book.
  4. #5 Mary Easton: her birth year is listed as 1681 on p. 4 but as 1691 on p. 10. I used the year 1681.
  5. #63 Mary Easton: her birth date is listed as Aug 22, 1789 on p. 52 but April 22, 1789 on p. 35. I used only the year 1789.
  6. #69 Agis Easton: his birth date is listed as Nov. 2, 1805 on p. 39 but as Nov. 28, 1805 on p. 57. I used only Nov. 1805.
  7. #80 Ashbel Easton: his birth date is listed as Feb. 23, 1789 on p 43 but as Feb. 20, 1789 on p. 62. I used only Feb. 1789.
  8. Ellina Williams, dau. of #98 Louisa Easton: her birth date is listed as April 31, 1836. Since April has only 30 days, I used only April 1836.
  9. Olive Green, wife of #89 Giles Easton Jr.: she is listed as b. 1702; d. 1874. If that were true she would have been 174 at the time of her death. I have used abt. 1802 as her birth year.
  10. #97 Jesse Cook Easton and #107 Elizabeth Easton: their marriage date is listed as May 12 , 1835 on p. 70 but as May 29, 1835 on p. 75. I have used only May 1835.
  11. #132 Langdon Chevis Easton: middle name listed as Cheevis on p. 54 but as Chevis on p. 132. I have used Chevis.
  12. #158 Maria L. Easton: her death date is listed as April 28, 1853 but her last child's birthdate is listed as 1862. I have chosen not to include a death date for her.
  13. Seymour Shumway, husband of #190 Harriet Newell Easton: death year listed as 1864 but last child's birth year is listed as 1867. I have chosen not to include a death date for him.
  14. #236 Tamar Easton: her birth date is listed as July 20, 1830 on p. 83 but as July 10 on p. 139. I have used only July 1830.
  15. #280 Charles H. Easton: his birth date is listed as April 21, 1843 on p. 104 but as April 2 on p. 160. I have used only April 1843.
  16. Rving Easton Spaulding, son of #307 Cynthia A. Ewing: first name listed as Rving on p. 170. I have used Irving.
  17. #327 Fred Edward Easton: listed as #328 on p. 122 but as #327 on p. 178. I have used #327.
  18. #346 Orlando Easton: his birth date is listed as Aug. 31, 1862 on p. 137 but as Oct. 31, 1862 on p. 184. I have used only 1862.
  19. Charity Easton, dau. of #38 Bildad Easton: her birth date is listed as Jan. 13, 1762 on p. 34 but as May 3, 1762 on p. 201. The date May 3 seems a duplication on p. 201 so I have used the date Jan 13, 1762.
