Daniel B. Gillham, 78, Granite City Alderman in '20's, passes away - Daniel
Brown Gillham, 78 of 2102 Missouri Avenue, a former Granite City Alderman for
eight years, died of infirmities at the Christian Welfare Hospital in East St.
Louis at 8:
30 A.M. Saturday. Ill for three months, he had been a patient there three weeks.
A native of Wanda, Illinois, Gillham had resided in Granite City 35 years. He
served on the local city council from 1920 to 1928, representing the fourth
ward.
His wife, Ina, preceded him in death five years ago.
He is survived by two sons, Arthur Gillham of Granite City and Lacy Gillham
of Roxana; and two grandchildren.

Gillham, Daniel Brown, 2102 Missouri Avenue, Granite City,Illinois entered into
rest Saturday, April 3, 1948 at 8:30 A.M. at Christian Welfare Hospital, East
St. Louis. Dear father of Arthur and Lacy Gillham, dear grandfather.
His remains will lie in state at the Mercer Funeral Home. Services Tuesday,
April 6, at 2 P.M. at Second Baptist Church, Granite City. Interment in Wanda,
Illinois.
Daniel was buried alongside his wife, Ida, in the Wanda Cemetery, South Roxana,
Madison County, Illinois.
He was married to Ina Idella WITTER on 14 Oct 1903 in Hamilton Co., IL.
Ina Idella WITTER(1) was born
on 30 Nov 1875 in IL. She died on 13 Dec 1942 in Granite City, Madison Co.,
IL. The following was taken from the microfilmed records of the "Granite
City Press Record": December 14, 1942.
Mrs. Dan B. Gillham, 67, Resident here 30 years, passed away last night. Mrs.
Ina I. Gillham, 67, wife of Dan B. Gillham of 2102 Missouri Avenue, and a resident
of Granite City the past 30 years, died at her home at 8 O'clock last night
followi
ng a paralytic stroke she suffered while listening to her favorite radio sermon
shortly after the noon meal. She had been an invalid for a number of years.
Her husband, a former alderman of the fourth ward for four terms, was employed
at the Union Starch and Refining Company's plant prior to his retirement.
Beside her husband, she is survived by two sons, Arthur Gillham of Granite City,
and Lacy Gillham of Roxana; a brother, Frank Witter of Garrison, Illinois, and
two Grandchildren.
She was a devout member of the Second Baptist Church and last rites will be
held there at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, interment will be in the Wanda Cemetery.
Ida was buried in the Wanda Cemetery, South Roxana, Madison County, Illinois.
Her husband, Daniel B. was buried beside her a few years later.
