In 1744[1] William Wood asked for and received a Commission to examine the bounds of his tract of land called Edinborough. The land lay partly in St. Mary’s County and partly in Charles County. Depositions were given by John Anderson (age 68) and John Poston Sr (age 65). Memtioned in the depositions: John Burch (a conversation of 13 years ago), Pole Bridge Branch, land called Two Friends which was adjacent to Edinborough, Colo. Greenfield 25 years previously surveying Edinburgh for Thomas Letchworth, a converation with John Bouroughs 25 years previously, Coach Road, Indian Creek Road, the widow Sarah Carter.

By reference to some of the more unusual names above, such as Thomas Letchworth, it is clear that William Wood was mostly of record in Calvert County, and that makes him William Wood who died, testate, 1745/6 in Calvert Co, leaving sons Leonard, William, Benjamin, daughter Rebecca, brother Edward. Will witnessed by Wm Whittington and Elizabeth Stennitt. (Notice that the name Leonard Wood comes up in the James-Rachel family). And, because of repeating names, William was the son of Ann Wood (left Calvert Co will in 1743/4) and John Wood. Ann’s children were Ann Williams, William Wood, Edward Wood. Witnesses to Ann’s will – William Whittington, James White.
