from Tobey Genealogy by Pope: He bought of Benjamin Spooner, Sept. 19, 1726, land in Dartmouth, which he made his "homestead farm"; afterwards bought many other tracts. His wife Sara joined with him in a deed of gift to their son Elnathan, Dec. 17, 1778. They united in a quitclaim deed of Pope heirs Jan.24, 1754. He made a division with Content Dexter of land they owned in common 22 July, 1755; he gave lands to his sons Prince and Noah in 1778.
He was first ensign, then captain,* and later major of the 2d regt. Of Bristol co. militia
*"Dartm 2 May, 1758 - - These may Certify that Elnathan Spooner has givento Jonathan Delano the sum of five pounds, thirteen shillings & four pence, as an Inducement to him to Inlist into his Majesties Service in the present Expedition against Canada, which I esteem as so much done Towards a Turn, as witness my hand. Charles E. Hill and Marion Tobey's records with John P. Hill point to this Zaccheus record being inVol. 11 of Freeman's "History of Cape Cod," now (1967) with John P. Hill contains the following information:
