Here is the answer to the item. The use of John Jackson Burgess should be
Jackson John Burgess and was probably Jackson John Jr. as in the Myrtyl Justice Burgess
article.
Jackson John Sr. had a Joseph born 1815 that married a Carolyn Smith.
but I did find his Joseph: under Smith Burgess.
Descendants of Joseph Burgess the son of Smith Burgess, looks like Kirklen missed a generation.

Burgess, John (b. 1783, d. 1862)Note: From book by Myrtle Burgess Justice (0btained information from e-mail) - "In the early 1830's the U.S. Government, to the best of our knowledge, what was remaining of the Cherokee Nation. The Burgess's had been located in the Tennessee part of the Cherokee Nation. After the siezure of the land, the state of Georgia made 4 counties out of it. The Burgess Family were then located in Floyd County, Georgia, in the town of Cave Springs. The Burgess family had been running a sawmill and furniture business before 1830 and until approxiamately late in 1858 or early 1859. At this time, the white families of Cave Springs took the family business and ran the family away only because the men were married to indians. The family resettled in Blount Co., Alabama in and around the town of Blountsville, Alabama. Great Grandpa Jackson John Burgess, Jr. and family ran a cotton gin up to and including the time of the Civil War. He (Jackson John Burgess, Jr.) died in 1878. Granpa Stephan Smith Burgess and family ran a sawmill and farmed until early 1887 when they moved to Lonoke Co., Arkansas.

Hello,
I am researching a Burgess Family who were living in Floyd Co., GA
around 1840. Then moved here from Bledsoe Co., and Marion Co., TN.
The family moved from GA to Blount Co., and Cherokee Co., AL by 1850.
My line is William b. 1760-1766 who had eight children: William, John,
Nancy,
Frances, James, King N., Elizabeth and Samuel. This family was
originally
from NC, possibly Rutherford Co., NC.
Does this family sound familiar to you? Any information on this
family
would be appreciated. I have quite a bit of info on this family that I
would
be more than happy to share.
