Thank you for writing. Yes, I could use help. My father, Jerome George Vickers was born in Ft. Basinger 3/12/1899 to a George Vickers (born in Arcadia on 7/5/1879) and Viola Cross (born in Fla? on 4/5/1879. George Vickers' death certificate says his father was Richard Vickers and mother was Ann Lofton, both born in Fla. in 1855 but not where.
Sincerely,
Charles L Vickers in Melbourne (Eau Gallie) Fla.

Vickers, Mary Jane (b. 11 NOV 1859, d. ?)

I have one photo of Charles Robinson and Mary Jane (she looks to be in her 20-30s of course, with the hard work back then, could look a lot older than they are). My sister has the original which is very small, but had it enlarged to 8x 10 for me. My scanner is not hooked up yet, or I could scan it. We do have a good copier and I would be glad to send you a copy of it.

Do you have any information about Mary Jane's death or burial place? It has been a big controversy in the family for many years, and no one seems to really know what happened. I suspect she died of Yellow fever. There has also been persistent rstatements through the years that she was Indian or part Indian. Can you shed any light on this?

My grandmother Mary Louise (Molly) was Mary Jane's first born 9/16/1881. brother John Henry was born 7/17/1883, and Anne C was born 12/1885. I have a photo of Charles Robinson, and his second wife (Mary Salome) who is expecting, John Henry and Anne (they appear to pre-teens).

The first child of the second wife(Mary Salome) was born 1889, so I am assuming Mary Jane died sometime between Anne C's birth in 1885 and 1889.

Charles is buried in Sarasota, along with a lot of the family from the second marriage in Rosemary Cemetery (n.Sarasota). We do not know where Mary Jane is buried.

I have a newspaper article (transcribed by an historical society member for me) about John Vickers (Mary Jane's dad) and how he helped during an Indian attack in which his neighbor was killed. I would be glad to send that as well.

It seems as though we can both close up some gaps in our lines.
Looking forward to exchanging info.

I finally got the scanner hooked up. Let me know if this picture comes out ok
for you. I will send you more items.
