First of all I want to apologize for my delay in replying to you. It was
nice to hear from you and to learn of how much you have done in the
genealogy line of the Platt family. I need to make a couple of corrections
in the information you have; my name is John Paul, son of James Newton and
Minnie Bankston Platt. John Rader was my first cousin, the son of Lewis
Walter and Jennie Sharp Platt. He died from a brain tumor several years ago.
My father told me about the unsolved murder of his mother, Mary Jane Jackson
Platt. She was found in the house dead from a gunshot wound and still
holding an egg in her hand. Dad said he thought she may have been outside
gathering eggs and when she returned inside surprised an indian attempting
robbery and the indian ahot her. I do not know any other details.
I will be more than happy to share whatever information I have about our
family and would appreciate sharing the information you have. And I would be
most interested in any copies of old newspaper articles relating to my
grandmother's murder.
My address is 140 High Bluff Rd., Hilton Head, S.C. 29926. Tel.
843-689-3964 Fax 843-689-2645. I need your address to mail the genealogy
material I have.
Thanks again for your e-mail and being in touch.
Sincerely, John P.Platt
