Thank you for writing. I also have very little information on my Cave
line and would really like to get over this brick wall.

I've been given information that John Cave was the father of Mary Cave.
Mary was the wife of John Echols (various spellings). John Echols and
Mary had a daughter, Ann, that married George Marjoribanks (later name
changed to Marchbanks).

I have found bits and pieces that John Echols and John Cave owned land
together in King & Queen Co, VA in 1703.

There were 2 John Caves in VA Tax Payers of 1782-87.. I'm not sure if
they were father and son or not.

There was a John Cave that came from London on the Matthew in 1635.
There was John Cave that owned a warehouse in Marlborough, VA in 1737.

I haven't ever personaly found the information that Mary is John Cave's
daughter. The Marchbanks line that sent me the info doesn't have a
source listed so I have no idea where they have found this information
from.

I know that Mary Cave Echols was a tall red headed woman, this was
written in 1850 from one of the Echols descendents.

I am interested in what you have on John Cave. I've never found a name
for John's wife, but the one in Marlborough, VA in 1737, her name didnt'
start with an M. That was in the article about the warehouse but they
didn't say what her name was.
Thank You,
Phyl Vance

John Echols an Englishman came to America about the end of the 16th or the beginning of the 17th Century and settled in Caroline County, Virginia, and married a tall redheaded woman named Mary Cave and by her had five sons and three daughters. I shall begin with his sons first and carry out their family as far as my knowledge extends.

Hi ,

I am going to call my mother tomorrow and get more info for you. My grandfather is John Waldon Platt. Believe it or not we had the Platt family reunion this last Sunday at my aunt's house. My mother is Caroline Platt and my father is Robert Leonard who was the sheriff of Suwannee County for 24 years.

One of my great grandmothers is buried in a cemetery in Suwannee county before Florida became a state in 1845. I will get all the names to help with your research of Platt's. Also names of cemeteries with family history.

I am afraid to say I have not really pursued family history. If you are interested you should come next year to the reunion.

Thanks Again,
Bob Leonard

Christopher,

Thanks for the e-mail. I read it very early before my coffee had time to get kicked in but here is a one little correction for your records from the info that was supplied to you. My grandfather's name is John Walden Platt and his wife was Agnes Wadsworth Platt (deceased 1989) . A lot of people get confused about my grandfather's name being Walton.
Also here is a little more history ( we are always more interested in our rogues in the family) my grandmother Agnes father was the Grand Dragon of the Ku Klux Klan, during the 1950s, and he went to prison for killing a white man that was beating his wife. A group of klansmen got together and beat the man to death. My great grandfather took the rap for the whole thing dying in prison.

When I wake up a little more I will re-read the email and try to sort some things out for you.

Thank You,
Bob

Subject: Platt family

Have really appreciated your records on my wife's family but she tells me some of the cemetery listings are incorrect. Her Uncle John Waldon Platt is buried in the Orange Cem. and not in Live Oak. Also, she is sure others on this list are buried in the Orange Cem.
The ones she is sure about are: Waldon (note the correct spelling), Agnes, J. C. (Calvin) and Ruby "Pat".
She thinks maybe Alonzo and some of the others as well. We were just up there a few weeks ago so I am sure she knows what she is talking about.
Now - could you help us with any documents regarding the early Platts?
I believe we are firm up thru the two John Jefferson's but beyond that sure could use something to support the line. Also am very interested in any info regarding the 2nd wife of John, Sr., Susan Elizabeth ROBERTS. If you have any copies of census records or anyother documents we would sure be thanking you for your help and as we search maybe we can provide you with some data as well. Look forward to hearing from you. Regards, HL

Subject: Re: Platt family

Thank you for your prompt reply to my husband's inquiry regarding my Platt family. I do want to clarify that my uncle, John Waldon Platt, is still alive, living at the Advent Village in Dowling Park, FL. His wife, Agnes is buried in Orange Cemetery and his marker is there to be used when God calls him.

My Aunt Mildred Leonard Wilson died several weeks ago and I will get the exact date along with other information to add to your files.

I enjoyed reading your newsletter and hearing that your grandmother was a teacher. My husband and I are retired elementary school principals. He has been doing the family history stuff for years and we are just beginning mine now that I am retired. I am excited to get started and especially glad to know that there are people like you that have already gathered so many treasures to share with me.

Looking forward to getting better acquainted.
