Thanks for the message,
I know for sure that Thomas m Bradford was married at least 3 times 1. lewis 2 Bruen (Divorce in Sumter co, AL ) I have the papers and then some where either AL , Ga to Caroline. I cannot find Thomas M in 1830-1850
census and he is divorced in abstensia . I find it strange he can be followed from 1819 to 1887 but for the 1834-1860 period he is out of sight. It could mean he was in financial trouble due to the bad timber deal in FL or on the run from Mary Bruens kin he was mobile though. I have written a researcher in Salt lake to see if she can find the son henry in LA since that is where he was when he sold his dads land in Habersham GA. I will probably go to GA and see what I can find in the records.

I was the other person and D Foster is doing some research for me. I have traced Thomas M Bradford from Hancock Co, GA to Clarke co AL and then back to Milledgeville, GA where he was the manager of the arsenal just before the civil war. He then bought some land in Habersham Co, GA and was postmaster there until his death. The note in one of the "history" books of Habersham quotes he was a direct descendant of Pres James Madison, how ever James Madison had no direct descendants.
The period before Thomas M Bradfords marriage to Jane lewis is blank except for the ads in the Ga Journal about his merchantile and book store in Milledgeville GA. I have proof he is the son of Thomas Bradford and Mary harhgraves and was bro to Brazil Ransom Bradford. Both men Thomas M and Brazil are in Tallahassee in 1825 (census ) listed as T & B and in the abstracts as one person T. B. Bradford but when the original is consulted it clearly states T & B 2 white males over 21 years old and Brazil leaves for Clarke co AL and Thomas M stays until 1833 he is mentioned in many lawsuits including one in the Federal Middle Fl court concerning a contract with the US navy for spar timber for ships of the line. Here he has partners including a Dr saunders form Bainbridge GA and CC Williams and Betton (local atto). Thomas M is listed in many of the 1821-1833 pole records and served on the territorial council of Fl and was in some way connected to Andrew Jackson and many of the local power brokers of the day in Leon Co, FL (tallahassee)The file I attached to my email of yesterday has my complete file and sources.
What is your connection??
Thanks
Terry

Thanks! I didn't mean to seem impatient and I have a pretty crazy schedule myself. I do the genealogy thing as much as I can in my free time. Wasn't sure if you were getting my e-mails or not.
Any information on this family would be of great assistance. I would have to dig through my paper to sort out when they came to FL but will send that information along. Thomas did go back to GA.
They were involved in lumber mill here in Leon County. Thomas M.'s brother Brazil R. Bradford sold the business to him and Thomas M was involved in several lawsuits in Leon County.
Also have record of Thomas M. Bradford being admitted to the bar in 1830 in Leon county. Going to do some more digging on that part.
Anyway, I look forward to hearing from you and will gladly assist you in anything you might need from Leon County FL.
Thanks again.
