Hey thanks for your reply. I'll look into my notes and see what I have also on Olive but I don't expect it to be anymore than I have listed. Without children of her own, our best hope is thru the descendants of Josiah's children. Have you contacted many of them to see what was passed down in their families?
By the way, your last name of Tanner brings up a coincidence of Olive's father, Moses Turner. He was listed in the 1860 census as Moses Tanner due to an apparent spelling mistake by the census taker.
I'll get back to you. Have you done much research into the Polk Co, Mulberry area?
Also, I have a picture of Wesley Turner's house taken in about 1906 with his wife, Martha Sears Turner and her young sons, one of whom was my grandfather at age 3. It is an excellent picture of a 19th century farmhouse "shotgun" or "dog-trot" design. I'll send you a copy if your are interested.

I just found the estate papers of Reuben Hickson father of Esther Hickson. He died in May or June of 1830. When he died Esther and her brother in Law John Cole were selected as the excutors of Reubin's estate. By the November papers, Esther is no longer listed as Esther Hickson but as Esther wife of John Baker and John Baker is listed as guardian of Reubin Hickson's minor Heir R. F. Hickson. From the estate papers I think I can assume that John Married Esther sometime between July 1830 and Nov 1830. and that Martha Baker Byrd b. 1833 was the only child of this match. I still don't know why she married at age 12 (turned 13 shortly after marriage). also have found a deed where John was buying land from three byrds and a newell. Think his wife at that time may be a Byrd.

Hello again
Did I tell that I found the marriage year for Ester and John Baker? Ester
was the widow of Reuben Hickson who died in late June and before 5 July 1830
when his estate was probated. She and Reuben had a son that was between 1
and 2 years old, R.F. Hickson. Ester married John Baker between August 1830
and Dec. 1830. John and Ester had Martha, my ancestress, on 4 may 1833.
R.F. Hickson was raised by John Baker and Ester. He died in 1859 probably
late April and before 15 May when his estate was probated.
Reuben moved to Sumter District from Williamsburg District SC about 1818,
the wife at the time was Mary ?(Allen).

I thought that Ester was Reubin's daughter, but after digging a little
further, found that she was Reubin's second wife and the mother of his
youngest child. Martha S. Baker, according to the Byrd family bible and the
census records was born om 4 May 1833 and married 1 oct 1846. Her only
child John Andrew Albert Byrd was born 29 May 1850. Martha died 5 Mar 1852
in Darlington District SC.
John Baker's first wife was Mary ?. I think she may have been a Byrd. The
assumption is rather shaky, John was buying out the heirs of one of the
Byrds in Sumter District. He bought their shares in a substantial acreage
that became his homeplace. He didn't pay very much for the land either.
So...... he may have been buying out his inlaws. That would follow the
pattern that happened when he Married Ester Hickson. He bought her husbands
homeplace at auction and then sold the land to one of his sons.
I would appear that John's 1st wife is the mother of all of his other
children, Jackson Baker included. Ester was mother to only Martha. and
wife number 3 Rachel, didn't have any children with John Baker. I haven't
found Rachel's maiden name or if she too was a widow.

Hello Christopher,
I have found more information on Esters' children from the Guardian records,
Selina Hickson wife of James Madison was a daughter of Ester and Rueben and
born about 1828.
R.F. stand for Richard F. Hickson b. about 1829 in Sumter died 1858 in
Sumter. He married Rebecca A. (Timmons?) most likely from Darlington
County. They had three children, Lizie b. 1853, Preston B. b. 1855, Sarah
R. b. 1858. Birth dates are from the census records, marriage and children
are proven by R. F.'s probate packet, sumter district SC.
Deborah
PS I didn't post office today hope to tomorrow before I have to hit the
