Ola passed away first, around Dec 6th 1918 with Samuel M. following on Dec. 16, 1918. All four died within a 10-day period. There were 7 children from Ola, one died in childbirth (1910, James’ twin) (and there were 5 children from his first wife, Georgiana (she died May 1900). Sam’s eldest sons were serving overseas in France (WWI) when the epidemic took their family. Samuel M.’s obituary reads two children also died, Calvin (born between 1912 and 1915 was one but I am unsure who the other was, (Ola might have just given birth at the time?). 5 of the children went to the orphanage: 1. James Randall (born 1910) (I don’t have it as Harrell?) He went by the name Randall (probably after the Randoll in the mother’s name?). The story goes he ran away from the orphanage, (don’t know if he returned?) later he joined the army (fought in Africa WWII) married, divorced, and died around 1965 – 1966. 2. Hubert Foy (born 1911); left the orphanage when he was of age, married and worked at the Gibbs Shipyard in Jacksonville as Superintendent of Carpenters.) He was one of 12 fatalities when an explosion occurred in the shipyard on Oct. 6, 1943, died age 32. 3. Vera Jean (born July 22, 1916) left the orphanage after graduating from De Soto County High School in 1934, married Paul Warren, they had a daughter, she died Feb. 22, 1989 age 73. 4. Fred (born 1916 or 1917); died shortly after being placed in the orphanage between 1919 and 1920. 5. Mildred Catherine (born Dec. 27, 1917), left the orphanage after graduating from De Soto County High School, attended Mound Park Nursing School 1936-1939 (becoming a RN). She married Emerald Queen in 1940 (May 12th) he served in the Air Force during WWII. Listed as missing in action (MIA) in 1943 after his plane (bomber) went down somewhere in the Pacific Theater he was declared dead in 1945. Mildred remarried in 1947 (Salvatore De Francesco) they had two children Joseph and Gail. She currently lives in NJ.

JOHN WESLEY PLATT, JR.
Age 81 of Palm Springs, FL passed away Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999. He was born in Madison, FL, and moved to this area in 1958 coming here from Atlanta, GA. Mr. Platt was retired from Palm Beach -Community College after 30 years as Associate -Professor of English. He was a member of the Palm Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Anne G. Platt of Palm Springs, FL; one son, John W. Platt, III of Tampa, FL.; two sisters, Pollyanna Mizell of Ridgeville, S.C., Helen Copley of Virginia Beach, VA.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, Sept. 17, 1999 at Palm Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Richard J. Englert officiating.
Interment will follow at Lake Worth Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends at E. EARL SMITH & SON MEMORY GARDENS CHAPEL, 3041 Kirk Rd., Lake Worth, FL. from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, Sept. 16,
1999. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33407 or the Florida Baptist Childrens Home, C/O Florida Baptist Convention, P.O. Box
