Dear Mr. Tanner,
I am trying to help my first cousin, Lola Mann Moulton trace her
mother's ancestry. Lola's mother was Lucy Georgia Gullett Mann, and her
parents were George Samuel Gullett and Ella Bethea. George Samuel
Gullett was the s/o Georgia Ann PLATT (b.Sept.18,1853 Plant City, Fl.)
and Dr. Audubon Gullett. Georgia Ann PLATT was the d/o Berrien PLATT (b.
Feb.13,1833, d.? m. Dec.7, 1854 Plant City, Fl.) and Dorian Penelope Mc
Clelland.
Lola realizes that she is of double Mc Clelland descendant as her
father's parents were the Rev. Henry Daniel Mann and Mary Virginia Mc
Clelland. Mary Virginia was the d/o Georgia Ann Davis and George
Washington Mc Clelland. But, Lola knows almost nothing about her PLATT
ancestry.
Any information or suggestion you might lend would be greatly
appreciated. I also am including a short story about Georgia Ann PLATT
Gullett that Lola sent me.
Thanks, Donnis Key
You probably noticed that Dora Ann or Dorian Platt is buried in
Crawfordville Cemetery. That cemetery is about 15 or 16 miles from me. I
have a picture somewhere of her grave. Mother and I located it many
years ago, but until recently, I had not connected her with my family
history.
As a bit of information that I gathered many years ago about Dora Ann
was that my Great Grandfather Aubudon Gullett, his wife Georgia Ann
Platt Gullett and his mother-in-law were traveling through
Crawfordville. As the custom was back then the Doctor stayed in the
homes of different people and cared for those that needed his services.
As it so happened, there was a lady, her last name was Council, who was
about 95 years old that remembered my Great Grandfather staying with her
family. While they were there Dora Ann died and was buried in the
cemetery there in Crawfordville, Fl.
When time which steals our years away.. shall steal our pleasures too...
memories of the past remain...and half our joys renew...

Yes, Berrian and Dorian Platt were the parents of Georgia Platt, who was the wife of my Great-Grandfather, Audubon Gullett. Aubudon and Georgia Gullett were the parents on my Grandfather, George Samuel Gullett, who married Ella Bethea. George Samuel and Ella Gullett were the parents on my mother Lucy Georgia Gullett, who married Leon T. Mann. I have a few more details, I will forward to you later, as I have gotten somewhat sidetracked on the Platt's and concentrated more on the Gullett's lately as I have been able to get my hands on a good bit of research on them recently. I wish I was as up on this computer thing as you seem to be, it would make my job a lot easier. I already know, I have to upgrade my computer as I don't have enough memory to do some of the things I would like. Have patience with me. Cuz Lola
