Platt, Berkeley (b. 22 JUL 1916, d. 21 OCT 2000)

Note: Berkeley Platt, 84, Arcadia, died Oct. 21, 2000.

He was born July 22, 1916, in Melbourne and came to Arcadia in 1974 from Union Park. He was a cattleman. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Union Park. He was an Army sergeant during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie; two daughters, Margaret of Clearwater and Deana Southwell of Arcadia; five sons, Denver of Seattle, Marion R. of Zolfo Springs, Duane of Orlando, Miles of Wauchula and Danny of Port Charlotte; two sisters, Rachel Blum of Christmas and Wilma Asbury of Coleman; two brothers, Pershing of Zolfo Springs and Tom of Ona; and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Joshua Creek Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
