Thank you for your prompt reply to my husband's inquiry regarding my Platt family. I do want to clarify that my uncle, John Waldon Platt, is still alive, living at the Advent Village in Dowling Park, FL. His wife, Agnes is buried in Orange Cemetery and his marker is there to be used when God calls him.

My Aunt Mildred Leonard Wilson died several weeks ago and I will get the exact date along with other information to add to your files.

I enjoyed reading your newsletter and hearing that your grandmother was a teacher. My husband and I are retired elementary school principals. He has been doing the family history stuff for years and we are just beginning mine now that I am retired. I am excited to get started and especially glad to know that there are people like you that have already gathered so many treasures to share with me.

Looking forward to getting better acquainted.

I have a new computer (1st one) and use Netscape. I clicked on ancestry -
just for fun I put in my father's name and it came up... along with some
facts I didn't know. Like I didn't know that my dad was named after his
grandfather! I am JeNeane, daughter of Rufus Lee Platt. Niece to Helen,
Imogene, Francis, Emma, Irene, Jessie Pearl. I was very interested to see
all the siblings, spouses of my grandfather and great-grandfather.

The site said that you had furnished the information. Maybe we are related?

Hi Christopher (Chris?):
I am so excited myself. A cousin! I thought I knew some of the Platt
history but now I know that all I knew was about the immediate family. I
did know a little of my great-grandfather. My dad loved to tell stories and
the story I heard about great-granddad was that he owned a pool hall and was
robbed and murdered on his way home. Luther (granddad) died of cancer,
which seems to hold a strong gene in my side of the family. Dad died of
cancer September 4,1980 at age 60, and since then three of his sisters have
died of cancer also (Emma, Irene, and Jessie Pearl). Uncle Francis is still
alive and lives somewhere near Orlando - I believe that he turned 75 in
December, he lived in New York but sold his house and moved there a couple
of years ago. He is married to Angelina and they never had children. I
will look up his address and send it - I'll bet he can remember some even
though he is the youngest. Aunt Helen is still alive but has alsheimer
(spelling?). She had three girls-Raleign, Nancy, and Janita. Aunt Helen
(and husband Paul Wheless) and Nancy live in Bradenton. Janita lives in
Georgia. Aunt Imogene lives in Tallahassee and has three boys.

I remember visiting relatives when I was younger (more than a few years
ago!) in Plant City. Seems live there was a Prevatt (spelling). And I
remember the name Linnie. My mom lives in California and I will ask her to
see what she remembers. I live in Kentucky and work at a state university.
Married, with one daughter - Mary Elizabeth (yes, I like family names). I
have one brother, Ralph Maurice, who lives in California also. Not married
and we thought he was going to be an old bachelor but is seriously dating
now. He is the last of the line for this side of the Platt's.

This really is exciting. Please write back and tell me about you and your
wife (children?). I do know where Maitland is. We get down that way every
once in a while. But Mom (Mariah) goes down every summer. She has a cabin
in Wymoma (near Sun City, between Tampa and Bradenton).

I'll go for now - thank you for answering back. This has been a great
adventure. You know I get excited when I hear the Platt name cause there
doesn't seem to be many of us, especially around here. When I was a
teenager there was an actor on Get-Smart (played the chief) who was a Platt
and I thought that was terrific, now I see the actor Oliver Platt and think
that somewhere down the like we're related. Nice to see the Platt name live
on.
